After 8 years and 96 threads, this is going to be the last eShop thread that I make. The motivation isn't close to the moment when I started, it's a good time to take a rest right now before I get more tired.
When European PRs moved at Thursdays and later, they were reduced to the minimal info already I was looking a moment to stop. I bear it how I could with your support.
I didn't created this topic, just took it when the former OP got tired as well. These threads were an oasis of peace for me respect to others threads of the same forum. Minimal off-topic, zero issues between users or mods and healthy discussion about games that appeared on the eShop.
Thanks to the users that posted all these years, without you the thread already would be dead years ago.
I hope someone keeps making threads even if the OP is more basic. Always is good to have a place to speak about indies and AA games which often are overlooked for many people. I'll always be available if you need my help for anything.

Thanks again and keep enjoying with games.

(Now it's when Team Cherry shadowdrop Silksong this month as a gift :))

I can't vouch for the Switch performance (playing on pc game pass) but please don't let Unsighted pass you by.
You'll definitely dig it if you enjoy CrossCode/Hyper Light Drifter, it's a very competent game!

tolkir Thanks for your efforts! This is the only thread I regularly checked and it was super helpful to keep up-to-date with the indie scene.

No indies for me this month though, there are already many great releases this month. Looking forward to Monkey Ball and Metroid next week. I'll also check out Back 4 Blood and Age of Empires 4 thanks to Game Pass.

EDIT: The Discord invite is invalid. Can someone create a new one?

Thanks for all the threads tolkir! I have been reading them and enjoying the discussions in here for years, even if I don't post too often. I know the threads don't get as many posts as they used to, but I always appreciated the fantastic OPs you prepared. You've earned your retirement, and hopefully there is someone around willing to take up the mantle.

Thanks for all the threads, tolkir. They've been a great resource! Personally I'm winding down my Switch purchases to a minimum and I'll only be getting games like Metroid Dread, SMT V and the occasional Arcade Archives release. The Switch is getting long in the tooth and too many games perform utterly terrible.

Has anyone played Unsighted? Hadn't heard of the game but watched a trailer and it looks pretty good. Gives me some cross code vibes with the combat and aesthetic and the reviews, the few I can find, are very positive. Does the game run well on switch? Or did it just get over shadowed by Eastward?

I've been playing it for a bit via Xbox Game Pass and the game is good, with a pretty interesting setting/story, and decent combat. My main issue with the game is you pretty quickly get hit with many different timers that constantly count down for pretty much all the characters, and the only way to seemingly circumvent them is through a consumable item that adds to their countdown.

If you don't mind needing to constantly worry about timers, and enjoy stamina based combat with Zelda like world progression, I think you'd enjoy it. If you don't like those things, I'd recommend avoiding or waiting for a discount.

What do you mean by timers? My first though it something like Majora's Mask where certain events have to be done by a certain time or Dead Rising where characters die if you don't rescue them quick enough.

If it's what I think the other poster is talking about then there's kind of a superficially imposed time limit of around 327 days and you lose a day whenever you die.

I have no idea what the implications are as I'm only about an hour or two in but you can find items that either extend your life or another characters (it tells you how long other characters have to live when you converse with them).

I didn't wanna say too much, but basically the MC and seemingly most NPCs (including shopkeepers, quest givers, etc) all have an individual countdown. When the countdown hits 0 they turn hostile and must be killed. You can extend a character's timer by 24 hours using a particular consumable item, but as far as I know these aren't something you're constantly getting.

So it's kind of a combination of MM and DR, I suppose.

Apparently there are different endings depending on who you save, and who you don't.

Thank you tolkir. You did a great job with this thread. I certainly bought many games just by cheking out the op for games and recommendations made by everyone who participates in these threads.
This month though, I mean there is a lot of interesting stuff and Metroid Dread too. I will also try to get the Oled Switch and that will probably make me buy a lot of games this month too (I love the feel of fresh hardware and new games to play).

I think just Metroid Dread for me this month. I'll wait on a sale for Super Monkey Ball.

...though oh right, the outta nowhere port of Zombie Nation from NES is out this month. I'll keep an eye out on that as well.

Thank YOU tolkir, you're a major reason I keep visiting this forum and engaging with it. Your threads have been a source of great joy and discovery, and helped foster a warm sense of international community which is often lacking in other areas of this forum.

I wish the eshop had the option to gift games so I could get you something as a token of my appreciation. Perhaps we could all pitch in via Paypal.

Thanks for all the work tolkir !

For me it's going to be Metroid and Project Zero. Then maybe Mario Party for the kids!
Reckon I will get Mario party for the kids (and me) for Christmas (sorry if it's too early to mention) but have Metroid Dread coming. Still got many to pick up from previous month's, so not sure I will grab anything else.

Tolkir NOoooooooooO :(

just kidding...well not really. What i mean is... thanks for all the hard work and effort put into these threads over the years, and that i, like many others greatly enjoyed them, not only as a source of info, but maybe more even, a source of joy, happiness, and discovery, untainted by other things that get in the way like in so many other threads.

Not sure there will be a replacement for this on this site here, probably not. Enjoy your "retirement" though, you've more than earned it :)

Is Death's Gambit as amazing as it seems it might be after all the work that was done to it since release 3 years ago? The reviews are very positive but most stop short of calling it great or a must-play.

Thanks so much for the superb effort you have our into maintaining this thread, my favourite on ERA. You say that you intended to create an oasis of peace, and you certainly achieved this. It has been a go to place for me when life has been stressful.

I just bought Mario Kart Home Circuit as a gift to the kids for Christmas since I found it cheap. It's never too early :-)

I've mostly lurked here lately, but thanks for all the great threads, tolkir! I've appreciated all the effort you put into them.

Edit: Having now played more now (20+ hours), I had to rewrite my impressions. Definitely play this if it looks even remotely appealing to you. Sure, it has some shortcomings like a limited selection of weapons of each weapon type and some weird bugs, but it makes it up in many other ways too. I'm really enjoying building my character, fighting cool bosses and exploring beautiful environments in this. On the balance, I think this is a great game that I'm enjoying more than many of the higher profile metroidvanias I've played.

Also, if you haven't played it yet and are looking for a bit more platforming and puzzling in this genre, consider Astalon: Tears of the Earth. A kind of overlooked game, and it's possibly my favorite metroidvania that doesn't rhyme with Bymphony of the Tight. Definitely up there.

Appreciate all the work you've done over the years. My posting in general has declined quite a bit over the years, but this is one of the only threads I'd consistently follow and read. Won't be the same, but wish you all the best.

This truly is the end of an era wow.

Thanks Tolkir for creating what has been my favorite thread on the sites! I visit here daily even if I've slowed down posting as the Switch years have rolled on. I completely understand being done and can't imagine the amount of work that goes into making this thread and keeping it up to date. Hats off to you and I hope the thread survives into the future as it's a core part of my overall experience here on ERA :)

Thank you for making all these threads over the years. They helped me identify games I was interested in each month and surfaced great discussions of smaller games.

Even though I don't post as much --my desire to play games just isn't there since life is a bit busy. Maybe when it gets colder and there's less sun out again next month. But it's been real amigo so gracias. I lurk mostly these days because I haven't bought anything on the eShop in over a month.

I think most people never realize that there's a human behind an avatar and regular thread with fancy graphics and frequent updates. It's a human that takes time out of their busy day to dedicate themselves to a community. This is one of the more wholesome threads where people aren't drive by-posting, being console warriors, or low key trolling.

I really hope the mods give you a tag at least. Will it mean much in the grand scheme of things? No. But it's nice to have some kind of acknowledgement. Anyway, enjoy your break!
