FUCK. THE. HATERS.
The fact that Mr. Aonuma's suggestion was apparently met with applause makes me so happy.
I'd LOVE to see them do this, Skyward Sword is the business!
It easily takes the third spot in my top 5 LoZ games, bring it on Aonuma!

All they need to do to truly improve the experience for me is:
- Make the "Hero Mode" available from the start.
- Shorten the number of tears that Link has to collect to 10. The "Silent Realm" sections are great imo, but they go on for a little longer than they need to.
- Remove the scrapper escort mission, it's dumb. Just have it so Link's Loftwing drops him and scrapper near the entrance of the Fire Sanctuary, and have it be guarded by a gauntlet of enemies that Link has to get rid of.
- DELETE that dumb tad tone mission. Make it so Link has to swim through a flooded Faron Woods to get to the water dragon's lair and fight a bunch of monsters (and a mini boss) that are holding her captive.
- Connect Skyloft and the Sky, make it one seamless area now that you're free of the Wii's limitations. Add in a day/night cycle too.
- Don't ever have the "You got a treasure!..." text pop on treasures Link has already collected.
- get rid of the second Imprisoned battle, it's entirely unnecessary.
so change like half the game, lol

Its simple nintendo; release all the zeldas on the switch. I'm no business analyst but i have a feeling they will sell well and you more than make your money back from porting them.
BotW brought a lot of newcomers to Zelda, I bet a lot of people are eager to play more even though they're different games. Skyward Sword, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess would do pretty well on the Switch.

Just the standard response for anything when there hasn't been an official announcement, happening or not.

Yeah I'm not letting that dampen my hopes (its nintedo, hoping against hope is practically their strapline)

Man it would be amazing if they dropped a Zelda HD collection and a MP HD collection at the game awards. SHADOW dropped. Please god, jesus, and baby santa.

Only 3D Zelda game I haven't played or even beaten (unless you count Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks). I would love a Switch release.

This could be a Game Awards announcement too.

I reckon its something they'd save for the January direct and make the TGA slot all about Metroid.

I really do hope it's more than a straight port but I know that's unlikely.

It was a pretty enjoyable game in terms of dungeon design, but the motion controls really ruined it for me. I never was able to get into a lot of Nintendo games for that reason, unfortunately.

I would definitely be excited to purchase this for Switch.

I only played this on Wii up through the first dungeon and gave it up, largely because I hated the motion controls, and the need to recalibrate the remote positioning all the time was a major pain, and the more intricate mechanics they forced on you for certain things (flying in the overworld, throwing or rolling bombs, etc, were also major pains in the ass to deal with.

Not sure if for a Switch release they would rework this into using traditional controls (use analog sticks for sword movement or something) or try to recreate the Wii experience just using Joycons (maybe these will work better than Wi -remotes). Or better yet, give both options as choice. Also, most certainly, a facelift up to HD resolution for this would be awesome.

People blaming their distaste of this game on motion controls are lame! The controls were fine and I feel like it's a total cop out to do so.

That said, if that was the only thing holding you back then you absolutely need to play it with normal controls on Switch, the game is near perfection either way. Thinking about certain aspects of it gives me chills.

The motion controls were great.

It was (almost) everything else that was kinda terrible. The world design, the art style (which admittedly looks great in those HD test pics), how the sky was trying to be an alternate version of the ocean from WW but failed miserably, how you fought the same super-lame looking boss three times, how hand-holdy the entire game was, how the promise of "the origin of the master sword" amounted to the same damn thing that basically happened in WW, etc. The game had its really high highs, but the lows were just incredibly bad for me.

The bosses always comes to mind too:

Compare that monstrosity of a boss design to this horrifying mother fucker:

The golden dude with the arms was a cool boss, but all the other ones were pretty shit. Ghirahim was cool but never really amounted to much.

I too am one of the few who thinks the motion controls were great, but it feels like we had a very different experience with this game. I mostly remember it for the greatness of its dungeons. Making my way through the sandship, and entering the ancient cistern for the first time (and then completing it, all the way through the best zelda boss ever that is Koloktos) are amongst the greatest Zelda experiences I've had. Kinda like with BotW, the highs outshine the lows (but to be fair, that's almost always the case with me, I rarely remember the bad things about games).

I think the boss design issue comes down to preference. I didn't mind any of the bosses in Skyward. Some of them were super cool, even!

I also loved the sky and the art style, so I guess we just have different tastes! The sky was cooler than WW's sea to me.

Also, Ghirahim is one of my favorite Zelda characters. He really breaks the mold of what I expected out of big Zelda baddies.

I remember enjoying the dungeons quite a bit, and some of the characters, but really not much else. Retreading the same parts of the world again and again without any freedom tainted my entire experience, as did the pacing of the story etc. People love a lot of the things I didn't like about it, which is funny I guess.

Koloktos (thanks, forgot his name) IS a super dope boss, but IMO he was the only really great one in the game IMO.

I just think that apart from maybe the dungeon design, everything this game does has been done better by another Zelda game (even then, Twilight had some pretty great dungeons, as do many of the Zelda games, for me).

You have to admit all the Ghirahim encounters were sweet. I loved the idea that this guy kept harassing Link and facing off against you. His theme is super memorable for that reason.

Ghirahim was cool, but like I said, he didn't really amount to anything awesome for me. He never reached that stage where he went from "interesting bad guy" to "wow this bad guy is amazing". He never got to Skull Kid/Majora level-awesome, where he's on-par with Ganon as a good Zelda boss, at least to me. It probably didn't help that he ended up amounting to the "real" bad guy's sword. He wasn't anything more than a minion. But yeah, he was interesting.

For me the Sky vs Ocean thing comes down to how much intrigue was actually involved. When I first played Wind Waker, so much of the joy from that came game from exploring all the little random islands, and there was so much mystery surrounding some of them. Skyward Sword totally took that away. There weren't a ton of things to explore, it was basically just a vehicle to get you to the next chapter of the game, the next closed-segment of the world below, etc. It was a cool mechanic that ended up being kind of unnecessary. I wish it had the same level of depth as Wind Waker's ocean.

I friggin' love the Ghirahim encounters. One of the highlights of the franchise IMO. He is without a shred of doubt my favorite Zelda villain.

So yeah, insiders have basically confirmed this in my eyes.

Nintendo: straight up says it's fake
Insiders: this doesn't mean anything, remember the New 3DS

They'd normally shoot things down that are fake, like the Grinch leak

Hells yeah. They're the two best. I don't dislike Ganondorf, per se -- he's effin' iconic -- but man, Zant and Ghirahim are better.
I'm actually pretty big on Ganondorf too but you're right in that he's in a different tier of villain lol. One-off major villains in a series like Zelda are something they can do much cooler, experimental things with. The most they experimented with Ganon is made him Calamity and that wasn't anything special to me.

I basically dropped this game pretty early on...I think when the Kikwi Elder asked me to find members of his tribe. The game made you do some really boring things.

Aside from some issues with the controls here and there, I personally really loved SS. Never had an issue with Fi either *shrug*. Easily has some of my favourite designed characters in the series. The designs for Impa and Ghirahim especially are top tier. Would definitely buy it again!

I'm on the same boat. The game looks wonderful when I saw the cinematics at a couple of Symphony of the Goddesses. And the music was sublime, really made me want to play. But then I went back to play and the really slow start just slammed me back to square one.

Getting bored and not finishing the game seems like the most common thing I hear from people about this game.

This game just had too much busy work.. didn't matter how good the dungeons were when you had to go through all that drudgery to get to them..

Twilight Princess was the same.. and that DS one with the shovel Knight looking guys you had to hide from over and over..

The Great Zeldas: LTTP, OOT, MM, BOTW gated you much more subtly and always varied the tasks that unlocked new areas.

I cannot see Nintendo releasing Skyward Sword HD as a packaged product for Switch.

Thought it may have done in the past, the company has little to gain from such a re-release now that Breath of the Wild has been released.

In fact, releasing such a game may create risk for the future of the franchise, which has just been re-booted to much fanfare.

This series has a lots of new customers with particular expectations for their next Zelda experience. If the company were to greenlight and release a Skyward Sword HD, it may cause confusion among many of these new customers when the game does not meet these expectations.

Still, I would be delighted to replay this game as I have fond memories of it.

I think our best chance to replay this will be on Virtual Console/as some sort of digital download, or upscaled as part of some kind of celebratory "Zelda Collectors Edition" set, rather than as a standalone product.

Outside of that, the next "HD Zelda" to be released will be running the BotW engine.

MM also had tedious tasks like bringing all the stuff mummies asked in Ikana well, getting the Zora eggs and getting your sword stronger.

pls don't tarnish these 2 masterpieces by lumping in TP

You mean Majora's mask

:P

Anyway skyward sword was a great game. Lots of good gameplay ideas, but held back by padding ( too much fetch quests ) but again I loved it when I played it.

Motion controls were fine, game does have the best story, characters, and really fun bosses.

Twilight princess still has the best dungeons, but skyward sword is 2nd place in that department.

I don't know how a remake will fix it's padding issues when all of it connects the story :[

The motion controls were fine for me. I feel like I really mastered the games sword Combat lol but I can see how it's frustrating to some, so having controls option should be the #1 priorty lol so more people can play.

I hope this is real. It would be a true disappointment if it were a misunderstanding. :(
And, bring WWHD, TP, and bundle MM&OOT 3D.

Also, I feel like every zelda game should be playable on every Nintendo system moving forward. The WiiU was the closest we got to having all of them in one system.
