Vita is one of my favorite consoles. If they could make another portable, whether that be its own thing, or something like the Switch I would be very interested. They just need to better support it than they did the Vita. Being a Switch like device fixes that problem.

The original source thinks it could be related to this patent from 2017, might just be Sony covering their bases if they decide to do a Switch-like thing
That patent was filed in 2015 and published in February 2017.
bingo .that is most likely scenario. the leaker said a year after PS5 launch sony will launch psvr 2 and it will have an option to go wireless to purchase it separate. this is most probably related to that

It's not happening anyway. I don't know why people think Sony is going to work on Navi with AMD, just to do something completely different
I'd be ok with the idea of it having games that can play on both PSP 3 and PS5, but PS5 only games that can be streamed to PSP 3 should be the focus.

Probably nothing. I feel that is likely the actual case since companies like to patent stuff even if they don't necessarily act upon it.
However, cartridges (assuming non-proprietary & expensive format + 64GB-128GB sizes are available since day 1) could be a nice change of pace. They seem to work well for the Switch overall and could potentially solve the issue of slow instals that Bluray currently has.

But bring the need for all kinds of downloads because they cant store enough data.
It won't happen but I'd be more than ok with a "PlayStation Switch" as the next gen PlayStation.

I doubt you will be able to put in normal SD cards in a PS5, Sony would be damn stupid if they would. They want to sell games and not invite pirating.
Other companies just covered some R&D costs. That's it. Technically, CD and BR were 100% Sony products.
In addition, what's wrong with R&D? They are actually trying something new and not trying to stole some ideas from China.
