This is new? (saw it on Reddit).

Seems like Sony is building a new studio/support team in San Diego, they already have a new "visibility project" under development:

Are you an experienced game developer with a penchant for high quality, 3rd person, Action/Adventure games? Do you enjoy PlayStation's library of games and their top-tier studios? Have you always known how beautiful San Diego is, but never found an opportunity to live there?

Then this is the opportunity for you!

Sony PlayStation is building a new game development team in partnership with the Visual Arts Service Group (VASG), an award-winning, full-production studio that specializes in Animation, Motion Capture, Cinematics, Art and Scanning. This is the same world-class team known for its contributions to beloved franchises like Uncharted, Death Stranding, God of War and more. For more than a decade, we have shared knowledge, support and cutting-edge techniques with the very best developers in the industry: Naughty Dog, Kojima Productions, Guerrilla Games, Santa Monica Studios, Sucker Punch Productions, Bend Studio, Japan Studio, Insomniac Games and more.

This high visibility project is being developed in collaboration with a major Sony development studio. Though currently unannounced, we have a clear vision and plan to release. The new game development team will leverage our existing expertise and premier talent, guaranteeing a high visual quality bar for the title.

Don't wait… we want to hear from you!

Thank you. :)

Tbh. I will surprise you by saying that I am not surprised eventhough the ND were surprised by the feats of the new engine. I am certain ND are indeed exteremely talented and I don't doubt that they can jump to another iteration of their engine in the same generation. It is like going from UE4 to UE5 in the same generation.

Interesting they mentioned Japan Studio they have provided technology. I know ND, SSM and Kojima Productions are using their mo-cap studio. I remember Level-5 had a mo-cap studio for White Knight Chronicles despite being a imaginative title and a different art direction than Hollywood blockbuster. The problem with WKC it was too generic and too Japanese. Hino is not a good writer and the animation was kinda iffy.

I would love for all 1st-Party Sony games to run on Decima from here on out

This would not be a good thing. Sony's games excel in tech because everyone uses what they're comfortable with. ND, Polyphony, SSM, Sucker Punch etc. all have their own engines. They do all share tech and ideas with one another, but the base engines are built by each studio to best match their strengths. As other have mentioned, some EA studios have struggled because they were all pushed to work with the Frostbite engine. That engine simply wasn't initially built to take on every single genre and Andromeda in particular suffered because of that.

Worried but not yet defeated! I was sweating it would settle on 95-96 on the first day but 94 I can still do dis with a little luck!

Scores tend to go down with time but time will tell if it will be enough. If you asked me now what the likely result will be at the deadline it would be 93. Maybe I ought to bribe some shadier reviewers while I still can.

Why would you suggest that on the day God of War reviews come out and say it's one of the most impressive pieces of tech this gen?! Plus Naughty Dog have a tech specialist team in house, so I don't think forcing some else's engine on the would be a good thing.

Lol no, it was last year in the last quarter.
Wasn't it right before E3 last year? That's when he was insisting God of War wouldn't coming out in the first half of 2018, which was immediately followed by Sony announcing its Early 2018 release window and Shogmaster deciding that the gaming side was too mean to participate in anymore.

Leave Shoggy alone. He even removed the Halo avatar, he is a changed man now.
Nah, not when he was acting like he had inside information, all of which turned out to be bullshit, and never suffered any repercussions for it. Even now he still won't admit he was completely and utterly wrong.

I am not that knowledgable about Sony's studios so I have to ask here I guess - but is there ANY chance for a new Soul Sacrifice PS4/5 game?

I applaud Sony and Ubisoft for letting their teams create their own engines that work best for what they want to do.

Nice find. Sony's Visual Arts Service Group (VASG) is fantastic. Can't wait to see and hear more!

No chance. Soul Sacrifice and Freedom Wars were Sony games for the japanese 'Monster Hunter' fans on PSVITA.

Yeah, I'd imagine this one will be built around the tech gains that will be possible because of the PS5. I'm expecting better AI as the overall mark of that generation.

I had no doubt God of War would be great. Was sold back in 2016 when it was announced. Looking forward to Dreams killing it.

I can honestly say I was NOT sold at first since I wasn't enamored with the combat -- not that it was different, but it didn't look compelling at first. But seeing more, reading the hands-on impressions, it all sold me a while ago. Game's already pre-ordered, but it's nice to see this kind of response.
