Upgrading SD card on Switch (save game question)

Looking to swap out my SD card in my Switch and just wondering where the games that don't support cloud saving (pokemon, Animal crossing, etc...) keep their saves...system memory or SD card?

Am I good to just swap the SD card and start redownloading games?

Thanks...I recently did this from my Switch Lite to my launch switch without issue. But I'll just be upgrading the SD card in my Launch Switch and just wanted to make sure it was save on the internal memory.
