Straight from the kitchen, we finally got an update from 2K22.

However, like the article states, this game needs to Do A LOT to regain the trust of fans.

*Update

WWE just confirmed release date for March 22. The trailer they just showed was questionable.

Meanwhile, I'll leave you with this screen shot (DLC teeth coming later)

Half the fucking roster probably needs to be scrapped thanks to the 100+ releases since the start of the pandemic

Fine by me. Take their time. I want this game to come out swinging after the disaster that was 2k20. This is the longest time I've seen a WWE game get for dev time

Usually there's the bad game between the smack down games. (Svr 2008, 2k20, people say just bring it but that game wasn't that bad) I hope the next bad one takes just as long.

I'll be interested in seeing how this turns out purely because this will be the first one fully developed by VC. I know they also developed 2O, but that seemed to be pretty clearly them taking over from something Yuke's had made. So this will be the first taste of whether things will be all that different under VC's development.

I'm expecting another disaster. Who would have guess that removing Yukes was the worst thing to ever happen to this series lol.

Honestly, wrestling games are very complex to make and like fighting games, it's something that only Japanese developers have mastered and few western developers have gotten right not counting shallow Arcady wrestling games. Same thing with EA's UFC attempts.

Doesn't look too different to me. That 30 seconds trailer has a lot of zoom in which makes it tough to judge animation quality. But it still looks like the old games to me.

I'd like there to be a AAA quality wrestling game again. Not from WWE though as they don't get any money from me. 3 years WWE-clean. Feels good.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until we see some actual gameplay. Right now they're just showing cinematic stuff, so it's hard to tell whether they're making any gameplay changes.

Watching that trailer.. seems to be cross-gen... oh well.

Sports games are generally the last to move fully over into a new generation of consoles. This series didn't drop the PS3/360 until 2K18.

What have they done???? For fuck sake.

The models looks horrible and 3 times worse than in 2K20. Seriously, the models were the last problem that game had and besides all the rest, most of them looked great in-game, specially if you did screenshots with the free cam.

These here look like a Frankenstein monster between 2k20 and WWE Battleground. I think I lost my very last hope, something in me broke with this trailer.

Watch them fill the roster up with fictional alt versions of the current roster like Zombie Cena and Viper Orton. I'm sure legends like Flair, Sting and Jake the Snake won't be in it either lol.

The roster is going to be so outdated on release, I could see Vince going on a few more firing sprees before it comes out.

Just watched the trailer in 0.25 speed. This trailer looks horrible. The animations are literally horrifying, specially the faces. Someone needs to gif the Goldberg scene in 0.25 ASAP. 😂 (And Lashley's eyes right after... omg)
Everyone looks like they are staring into the void with still horrible hair and even more floaty looking move animations. I seriously think that this graphically looks even worse than 2K20.

I never ever thought I would say that.

Unfortunately these games are usually trash, with the same releases every year. I hope I'm wrong but my expectations are very low.

After what they just did to Bianca Belair, I'm going to boycott WWE and come back when they do something else ridiculous again.

The game usually gets a F2P weekend around the time of Wrestlemania. I will wait until then to play the multiplayer, then buy the game for cheap later on.

The AEW game should be good. Probably a Fall 2022 release though.

I was optimistic that Visual Concepts could turn things around from 2K20 but the sudden radio silence after the initial 2K22 announcement followed by this long delay has killed that.

Yuke's is going to be redeemed with the AEW game. They know what they are doing, have time and a budget and an awesome roster to work with.

Looks like the usual WWE 2K crap.

I see a few people mentioning an AEW game, I wasn't aware we were getting one. Do we have any gameplay videos of that?

Thanks. It does look quite early, but I like the camera cuts and the impact on those moves. Hopefully the final product turns out well. Would love to play a good wrestling game again.
I think it will turn out alot better than this WWE game for sure. They brought in the No Mercy director to work with Yukes and Kenny Omega is heavily involved so I'm hoping it turns out well. It's probably late 2022 at the earliest though.

To be real, there was no way that VC was going to suddenly put out a complete revamp of WWE since 2K20 when it seems like they're struggling to work with the old Yuke's-developed engine this whole time.

It's only a matter of time till WWE and 2K cut ties, and WWE will be forced to look for another publisher. And before everyone says EA, I don't even think they would care to entertain this idea.

WWE is such a mess at this point. Low ratings and the sales for WWE 2K games have been dropping annually. I am not sure when their contract is up, but am certain they are counting the days.

Just to think that 20 years ago, WWE had unique versions for all consoles.
