The game is called Freefall 3050AD
It was released by Total Arkade Software and Tony Takoushi for the Nuon in 2000.
The Nuon is a pretty interesting console.
Apparently it's the reverse of a PS2. It's a DVD console with a game console built in.

The unreleased Xbox port was developed in 2004 but cancelled due to the imminent release of the Xbox 360
The game was 95% complete but never released

Modern Vintage Gamer got in touch with Tony and was sent over the source code so he could finish the game.

It's pretty cool that he was able to get the game finished and released for free with the original devs blessing.

I loved the original Xbox but I had never even heard of this game

It's also available on Steam for $2.99

I mean not to sound like a cheapskate but 2.99 isn't exactly "free".

How does one get the free version? 😀
