I know, I know... Rule 34 and all that. I don't want to yuck anyone's yum, but what the fuck? The idea of actually being sexually aroused by cartoons makes my head spin. I've seen threads online where people have anime figures with giant breasts, lots of exposed skin, etc. and I can only assume the main draw is some sort of sexual appeal/arousal. I have a hard time imagining that everyone who likes it only appreciates it for its artistic merits. It makes me think of this scene from the Wayne's World movie:

So am I missing something or are there (primarily) dudes jackin' it to cartoon ladies? Or, shit... are there people rubbing one out to anime characters of any gender that blows their hair back? Help me understand.

This thread is a trap. I ain't about to admit I like all the anime characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

No, we're all just pretending to fuck with your head. I'm glad our efforts are finally bearing fruit.

People have been horny for cartoons since cartoons were invented.

Plenty of examples in American culture, it's not just an anime thing.

This is a trick to get people to post hot anime pictures and you just want to increase your collection

Yes
The thousands of trashy mobile games and animes where the main hook is generic big titty cartoon girls exists for no reason.

Not a single person consumes that content.

Humans have been making erotic drawings for most of our existence and we probably wouldn't have done that if people didn't get some kind of sexual arousal out of it.

As a person who's never been attracted to anybody (and thus has an outsiders perspective, I guess?) I don't really see an issue with it in general. Part of what's so cool about animation is that it convinces the viewer that a bunch of static drawings on a page are living, breathing characters full of life. And people can feel attraction to living breathing characters even when our logic tells us they aren't real.
I'm not gonna say it always pleases me, particularly when pandering to that crowd takes over a show I'm trying to enjoy, but generally speaking as long as it's not harming anyone I don't really see the issue.

Animation is a powerful medium and has the capability of tapping into any kind of emotion. I see no reason then why a character cannot be designed in such a way that it makes part of the audience feel they are handsome or beautiful, which is no different from a character being designed in such a way as to look "cute" to us, despite the fact that in both instances, the audience is still exhibiting an emotional reaction over something that doesn't exist. It doesn't seem weird to me.

Where it gets weird is when the anime/manga characters look indistinguishable from minors. THAT shit is fucking creepy.

wait what? You're confused by the concept of someone getting off to illustrated porn?

This is so baffling to me, were you a horny teen at some point?

At least most anime girls are human or human adjacent!

I'm not 12 anymore I'm not ashamed of people knowing about my love for girls of the 2D persuasion.

It's a lonely attraction because I can never meet any of them in the real world.

The most I can hope for is a non-judgmental partner that wouldn't mind dressing up as Bulma every once in a while.

I find it stranger that OP finds it so strange. It's not like they're drawings of inanimate objects (I'm sure some people are turned on by chairs or something though). They're cartoons/drawings but they've got breasts and vaginas and butts, the works. They're drawn to look like people. What's confusing about it?

I think a lot of things that are animated only work as stories if our minds somehow map them as being representative of real people in a sense.

So a lot of people aren't necessarily attracted to "cartoon characters" per se, but what that character represents in the real world.

I sincerely apologize if I've offended anyone with my question. I just... I don't understand it. BUT I also realize that I don't have to understand it. As long as you aren't hurting anyone, let your freak flag fly. Blast rope to whatever you want, I reckon.
