With all the women who worked at Blizzard coming out today with unbelievable stories of abuse coming from the very top of Blizzard employees, we get this. Big yikes from me.

Context:

"Video game giant Activision Blizzard Inc., maker of games including World of Warcraft and Diablo, fosters a "frat boy" culture in which female employees are subjected to constant sexual harassment, unequal pay, and retaliation, according to a lawsuit filed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.

A two-year investigation by the state agency found that the company discriminated against female employees in terms and conditions of employment, including compensation, assignment, promotion, and termination. Company leadership consistently failed to take steps to prevent discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, the agency said."

According to the complaint, filed Tuesday in the Los Angeles Superior Court, female employees make up around 20% of the Activision workforce, and are subjected to a "pervasive frat boy workplace culture," including "cube crawls," in which male employees "drink copious amounts of alcohol as they crawl their way through various cubicles in the office and often engage in inappropriate behavior toward female employees."

The agency alleges male employees play video games during the workday while delegating responsibilities to female employees, engage in sexual banter, and joke openly about rape, among other things.

Female employees allege being held back from promotions because of the possibility they might become pregnant, being criticized for leaving to pick their children up from daycare, and being kicked out of lactation rooms so male colleagues could use the room for meetings, the complaint says."

The suit also points to a female Activision employee who took her own life while on a company trip with her male supervisor. The employee had been subjected to intense sexual harassment prior to her death, including having nude photos passed around at a company holiday party, the complaint says.

It should be noted that so far, Red Shirt Guy has said he received no notification regarding the Tweet.

here
popped up on Era from the main thread here

Ummm, did Chris accidentally tweet his name when he meant to search for it?
E63fJOlXMAEWOeJ.png

I saw that being shared around but can't find that tweet/reply, so don't know if it's authentic just as a word of warning. It's not a good look if that was actually posted though.

Looked into it some more and people are saying they saw that tweet so welp

people are claiming they saw it, and im not sure why someone would fake it

Wait what.

He actually typed his name into the tweet box and hit enter, mistaking it for search?

How can an adult at a tech company not see the difference? It's almost hard to believe. Is the tweet still up?

There are many reasons he could have been searching for his name in regards to the topic at hand. Maybe wandering if people were asking if he knew of the allegations, etc. To make out he was only doing it to check allegations against him is not a leap you can take imo. Why would you even break this out into a new thread when it's already getting discussed in the main one?

He apparently wrote out his name in a tweet instead of searching for it. The implication here is that he screwed up searching his name on twitter to see if anyone named him amid the Activation controversy.
then unless he was named, this seems like a dangerous reach to create a whole thread for.

Yeah, while this could be seen as something negative, I think we would need more information or someone to come forward about interactions with him specifically. If he worked at the company, he easily could just be checking to see if he was caught up in any of this even if he was innocent (not saying he is, I just don't think it's right to call him out with no one even so much as alleging he did anything wrong)

Yeah, iunno. This seems like a huge leap for something that could potentially be super damaging. We can probably wait a couple of days and have it come to light more coherently?

Reported thread for closure.

He might have been just searching to see if he was caught up in anything even if he is innocent of any wrongdoing. If he is named by any women it can always be re-opened. Sorry for jumping the gun, I just found it shocking.
