With Mario & Luigi series dead and Paper Mario not really being an RPG anymore bringing back the Mario RPG series makes perfect sense, especially with the Switch.

I'd play it for sure. I absolutely loved the first one and it was a very joyful experience for me during a very tough time of my life. It'd be great to revisit its style in a modern game, Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario had a lot of the basic fundamentals there but felt like very much different games. Now that one is dead and the other has taken a more adventure-puzzle approach, now would be a great time for this.
