We're finally on the cusp of the final year of this fantastic generation of games, and we're set for two absolute juggernauts to face off for GOTY 2020: The follow-up to one of the greatest games of all time with The Last of Us Part II, and arguably the most ambitious open world RPG ever made in Cyberpunk 2077.

What's your prediction for Game of the Year 2020? Will these games top the other best games of the generation? Will they rank as some of the best games of all time..?

Let's vote!

Everybody keeps forgetting BOTW2 is likely targeting a holiday 2020 release as well.

I would have said Disco Elysium for sure but it just got a surprise release date of Oct. 15.

Here or overall? Here its gonna be TLOU 2 by landslide, overall? Who knows , tho TLOU 2 is much stronger GOTY canditate for critics than Cyberpunk

I think TLOU has a better shot. Being more linear will give it a bit of a leg up for most busy critics, imo.

After seeing the latest gameplay for Cyberpunk and the Last of Us, it's going to be TLOU for me.

unless it comes out too late in the year to be considered for goty awards

Can we actually finish this year off first before we even think about that question?
also this, what's the point of guessing the goty for next year when no one has played any of the games?

Personally think both will get the rug swept out from under them especially since people tend to forget games from 1st quarter. Not to mention counting out FF7remake and potential BOTW2 etc at the very least will split alot of votes.

Cyberpunk 100%. I might be an anomaly, but while I liked TLOU.. it didn't quite take me the way it did most people.

its the same situation as GoW and rdr2 and Tlou vs GTA just this being Tlou2 vs Cyberpunk, Will really have to wait and see how both games perform to deduce a proper conclusion but right now my vote goes Tlou2.

Can people stop pretending it's not between those two? They are the journalist darlings, won't go below 90 metacritic.

Dunno cause I've not played either of them.

So Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

What's the metric here? Because I think it might be something we weren't expecting (like an Outer Wilds, Hollow Knight or Into the Breach) that ends up really captivating me and others. That's why I went "something else". Very excited for Cyberpunk though, a little less so for TLOU just because I worry it's gonna be like Walking Dead Season 2 compared to the wonderful tight story of the first game.

TLOU2 is going to be amazing out of the gate. CP2077 is going to be awesome, but with lots of bugs and odd design decisions at first, and then eventually will be patched to be something special.

In Reset Era: The last of us 2 (or Sony exclusive of any given year for that matter)

In the rest of the world: Cyberpunk 2077.

I'm more excited for TLoU 2, but both look good. I can see Cyberpunk not running well at all on current gen though.
But it's a bit silly, we all know PS5 launch title Knack 3 will be GoTY.

Can we just stop with these stupid threads about "will x or y be GOTY in 2020?" And actually wait for them to come out? Please?

Why is everyone assuming botw2 next year? They said at e3 "now in development". That screams pretty far away still.
