This reminds me of one reviewer complaining that Uncharted Lost Legacy had focused too much on shootings and this had no place in the writer's experience with the franchise.

Is Days Gone better than The Last Of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, or God Of War? Absolutely not. Is it even as good? No. Then, does that mean it's bad? Hell no. It's far from being a game "so bad it's funny".
isn't a revolutionary masterpiece that will dupe people into thinking it's the gaming industry's crème de la crème, but that doesn't mean it's an average to poor experience. When you ignore that it's a PlayStation 4 exclusive and stop comparing it to other first-party Sony games, then you realise that Days Gone is a fun time with a strong protagonist, likable relationships, sufficient gameplay, and gorgeous graphics.
