I am happy that Trump is getting the boot, however oddly enough, I still feel bummed on how things turned out.

Biden is getting handed Trump's mess and there ain't really shit you can do about covid a year later. Mitch already knows he can fuck off in the senate, and the SC isn't going to do anything to help (RIP court packing dream). All we really win is that Trump doesn't get to stand at the mic being an idiot, but he can still shitpost on Twitter all day. And in 2 years Republicans may well punch back again after saying Biden is worthless. Public option and ACA improvements are DOA too.

Realistically, whats the best we can hope for the next couple of years?

Fix the Democratic Party so we can win the senate in 2022 and not lose the House.

From a legislative perspective it's going to be bad dude. And they sure as shit aren't approving any of his judges.

But there's some hope in that the outright corruption being done on all Executive Branch departments can at least be repaired somewhat.

Biden can do a lot wrt immigration for starters. He can also rejoin climate change agreements and make trade deals with our allies instead of trade wars. He might even be able to force prescription costs down without Congress, though I expect that'll be challenged. It's definitely not ideal, but it's not hopeless.

Maybe it will finally force some severe public scrutiny of Mitch McConnell. Democrats have to weaponise his obstructionism if they want the Biden presidency to make a lasting impression. That man is destroying America.
