I've had my youtube channel for about 15 years and I don't want to make a new one because of it. Back when Youtube did that dumbass G+ forced integration, youtube accounts merged with your google ones and your real name became your channel name. Since then i haven't really been able to find a way to change it without also changing my account name on all other google accounts.

Go to Youtube.
Click your user icon in the top right.
Click Customise Channel.
Click Basic info.
Click the pencil icon next to your channel name.

You really could have just Googled this.

I did and they all said what you did, but that changes the name across all my google accounts which I do not want to do.

I was able to figure it however, and had to convert my channel to a brand one.
