It's incredible to me that you could even present this and think "yeah I'm contributing to a discussion in good faith" because this is not even close to "it," my dude.
, describes a form of boycott in which someone (usually a celebrity) who has shared a questionable or unpopular opinion, or has had behavior that is perceived to be problematic called out on social media is "canceled": they are completely boycotted by many fans
This MatPat fella seems like a dim bulb at best. It's incredible to me that you could even present this and think "yeah I'm contributing to a discussion in good faith" because this is not even close to "it," my dude.
What happened with Etika (before his suicide) that would make him think "cancel culture" was to blame?

Why reward his godawful behavior by directly linking to his twitter. Just post a screenshot.
This post basically nails it.Etika's death was not because of cancel culture. Tons of Etika's friends reached out to him when they thought he needed help, more so were blocked than others because they were actually trying to help. On top of that, Etika was always over the top and full of energy ready to burst and have fun, joke around etc. That was always Etika on camera, so when he was acting the way he was towards end of his life (R.I.P man, I'll always miss your entertainment), people thought it was a part of a plan towards an ongoing joke. Instead, a ton of people were wrong and thought he was attention seeking. No one was "cancelling" Etika, at all. So many people reached out and so many people tried to help him, but he didn't want anyone's help unfortunately.
This presentation title is wrong and MatPat should feel bad about it.
This post basically nails it.
We still miss you, Etika. This upcoming Direct won't feel the same without you. Also, fuck you, MatPat.
a lot of people turned on him after some of the stuff he did. many at the time thought he was doing it for other reasons beyond mental health and went after him. many people on this board bashed him for the same reasons.Etika was never cancelled though, so that doesnt make any sense whatsoever. He acted insane and had haters because of that. but it also belied deeper mental issues with himself.
He had tons of issues long before he started acting out which was just a symptom of his mental issues...which was actually very close to the time he took his own life
The Algorithm can't tell the difference between positive or negative engagement. So if someone tries to 'ratio' him they're just helping his numbers. Same for direct quote-tweets/retweets. This is why it's often preferred to simply post a screenshot and comment on it, so that they are not rewarded for moments of trolling or direct stupidity.2. Genuinely curious how linking his tweet is rewarding him? I'm happy to comply with screenshot later on, still curious though.
It shows, & you have my respect for that. Thanks man, took a good bit of time to try to figure out how to word it.
