Speaking to Polygon, Vaughn revealed that the first film in the proposed trilogy was meant to take place almost entirely on Krypton, and focus on Jor-El and the impending explosion of Krypton. Though the alien planet would still face destruction, Vaughn and Millar's take would have the event take place much later in the timeline, allowing Superman to grow up on his home planet and gradually become familiar with Earth, maturing into an adult before having to reckon with his loyalty to both planets.

Though the negotiations Vaughn was reportedly in have since dissipated, the filmmaker didn't entirely rule out the possibility of returning to the DC universe. "It'd be hard to say no," he said, of being offered the opportunity to helm a new Superman film.

All I can say is... wtf? Glad this didn't happen.

Who the hell starts a trilogy at 2? It's still weird that Star Wars started a trilogy at 4

I don't know why he wanted to pull a Supergirl with Clark. He never knew his home and was raised as a farmboy, that's kind of essential stuff like Peter Parker being from NYC or Bruce being a billionaire from Gotham.

Did you actually read the article before you posted it

a paragraph before he says this was pre-MOS, in 2008 (only vaguely saying that some stuff might've been reused for his MoS 2 proposal)

As the filmmaker explained, the pitch he'd presented with Mark Millar (whose comics Kick-Ass and The Secret Service Vaughn adapted into films) just didn't fly. Millar has describedhow, in 2008, he and Vaughn pitched WB on a Superman film — the first in a proposed trilogy — that was "a massive, uplifting, hopeful thing," but further details about the pair's vision have been sparse. As Vaughn tells it, his Man of Steel 2 would have lifted many of the same ideas.

Well, on one hand, we avoided a Mark Millar Superman film.

On the other hand, we missed out on a Matthew Vaughn Superman film.

Oh, what a cruel universe we live in.

I think you will appreacite this.

But creators please please please get over Krypton, it was a planet full of dicks that got blown up, stop trying to make it happen. Unless you get stupid with it like Syfy. Like getting Space Taxi, Ultra The Multialien, and Lobo showing up
