Sony has just announced the PlayStation 4 has sold in 100 million consoles. Not only that, but the speed at how it got to this point is one that broke all previous records. This is in no short part due to the stellar 399 price point.
As we wind down PS4 the successor - PlayStation 5 will start to take shape. This past E3 Mark Cerny opened the curtain to what exactly the specs of PS5 will be - it seems to be using some cutting edge components. The SSD, a 7NM CPU / GPU, and next gen hardware including a dedicated audio chip, Ray tracing support and more.
This now begs the question - what price point will PS5 launch at? Can Sony repeat the success of PS4 and launch at 399 with the razer blade model? Or will they be unwilling to take a loss and embrace new technology for a 499 price point?
