These Pokemon animation miniseries continue to do the narrative heavy lifting that games seem incapable of.

They're actually going to show the protagonists doing stuff this time? I remember hating Generations or whatever that last series was called because it kept doing weird stuff like having only Cynthia present at the Spear Pillar and whatever.
Please just make a real full game adaptation series or Adventures adaptation instead of constantly teasing us with OVAs while still allowing Ash to live.
I've wanted that to happen since I was a kid and as time goes on it feels less and less likely. Problem is that you have to do a full season for each arc in the series, and TPCi probably isn't interested in spending that money when they already have the anime which runs year long and does it's job of promoting the games.
protags showed up in generations so it's not like this is the first time
there were a lot of glaring admissions though. I think only Red, Brendan, and Hilbert appeared and Hilbert was shown in BW2's storyline of all things which was weird.
Having the same protagonist probably helps to give stability to the franchise as a long runner, instead of something like Digimon for example.
A new web based anime series called Pokémon Evolutions has been revealed. This series is an 8 part web series featuring animation focused around the Pokémon world from each generation of Pokémon.
The first episode will release September 9th and air every few weeks:

Why the long gap between the 4th and 5th, Any particular reason there isn't any episodes in November?
I'm guessing they did or are doing production in batches so this gives them more time to produce the 2nd half
It's also like two weeks after BDSP, so it'll give kids who haven't played Gen 4 time to play I guess.
Will we finally get the female protagonist shown? I was extremely annoyed by how generations only showed male protags.
While I generally agree that the manga was better, it still not that good. I guess I came to appreciate how the anime is more grounded compared to the gary-stuness of Red and the other protagonist winning major leagues in a unrealistic timeframe while Ash had to actually face constant defeat, but still standing-up and trying again and again until he finally won. It is a surprising realistic sports journey.
As someone who who loved Adventures as a kid...keeping Ash as the protagonist was the right decision in the long term. Things could have been handled better, such as allowing him to age and let him win a major league earlier, but the Pokemon Anime did remain relevant for 20 years.

Too much Leon in recent pokemon media imo, but overall this looks really cool. Always down for limited sakuga pokemon
Eh the female protagonists almost always show up in the main anime, and they get way more screen time.

I mean he's popular so it makes sense, but I do wish they gave Bede some screentime in something. He hasn't shown up in almost anything outside of like 10 seconds in Twilight Wings, same with Marnie surprisingly
Any chance this is the same Lillie as the one from the mainline anime? Been waiting on a continuation of her arc. (If that's already happened in Journeys, I've only seen the English-dubbed stuff thus far.)
Zero chance. These are based off the game, not anime. Plus Lusamine is obviously her evil self in the promo rather than the overbearing mother in the anime.

Lillie has appeared briefly in Journeys, and it did hint that things will continue on from there, so who knows!
I hope they go with SM's version of Lusamine, even though the episode looks to be based on USUM, from the protagonist's design. There's a lot of focus on Lusamine and Lillie but I think I see Necrozma at one point?

This looks really good, I hope the episodes are long enough to do the stories justice. The animation style is great.
Didn't know the animation studio that did Pokémon did so much other media. Yokai Watch, Beyblade, they did so many kids anime staples.
