It is capable of 8k. That doesn't mean games will be 8k. Why would you take marketing at face value?

It is. That is the HDMI 2.1 specification that both PS5 and Series X have. Don't expect any game going for such resolution though it's a total waste.

Of course it's 8k "capable". Just like it's 120hz "capable".

They mentioned 8K in the Wired articles didn't they? Regardless, these consoles are not doing anything meaningful in 8K (if anything) and I could care less. Not getting an 8K TV any time soon and I prefer they prioritise other things over hitting huge resolutions
