Isn't this the case for all top selling plattforms ala PS4, PS2 or Wii ? They were all quite supply constrained...comes with the territory.

A $700 PlayStation would be abysmal for mindshare long-term, which is why they didn't do something like that.

That was probably hyperbole, but I think that unit sales seem much more important than dollar sales, when the console itself is sold at a loss, right? Unless I'm mistaken. At least when the number is used to measure console success.
So deceiving? NPD uses this as a primary metric.
