Question: rules regarding giveaways

I couldn't find anything in the rules on this, maybe I missed it. But is it OK to create a new thread solely for a giveaway, so long as I am not doing any kind of self promotion?

I just don't know the exact rules about giving away your own game.... but I seen it happen before
