We know it's going to happen. Young people, hipsters, the media - they will have a nickname for this period of time afterwards. What's your guess?

The most obvious one is "the plague". My own suggestion would be "The big freeze" (due to the freezing of society).

In the US, you will only be allowed to talk about it if you also mention how thankful you are for dear Leader Trump and how it´s only thanks to him that you are still alive.

I've seen the phrase "the lost year" thrown around on Reddit. Could work.

I think in a couple of years this might catch on. I've discussed recently with my friends how much this feels like a cancelled year, every major event had been moved, sports and entertainment are at a standstill, all politics around the globe are focused on coronavirus. Also depends how the world rebounds from it

It'll be called the great pandemic and then when a worse one comes they'll change it to something else
Unless it surpasses numbers of sars or god forbid the Spanish flu, I don't think it can be called the great pandemic. At the moment, this is child's play compared to those 2.

Maybe in the same way large storms are given names, we could call this pandemic Brian. Remember when Brian fucked everything up? Well done Brian.

you can't call it "the plague", plague is an actual disease.

i think it'll just be "the pandemic", like "the financial crisis". we'll talk of pandemic-era events and so on.

Yeah but we're full of ourselves and will embellish it

Wait maybe I've got it all wrong but SARS only had a fraction of the cases and deaths that corona has caused. Whilst it's unlikely to come close to what the Spanish flu did, being by far the worst pandemic in the last 100 years despite all the actions taken requires no embellishment. We're about to officially cross 1 million cases and 50K deaths with no end in sight.

Probably won't even register. It's gonna be remembered as much as SARS, MERS, Swine flu, etc.
