Erdrick and the DQ4 hero both have female versions to play as in their home games but are apparently totally absent from Smash, despite their male counterparts being present and there being enough alt costume slots to easily fit them. It's possible they are still in but Smash newcomer trailers usually show alt-gendered costumes when they are first shown so I don't have high hopes.
The biggest issue is now that 3/5 of the DLC characters have all been men, which is in addition to the only 3 female characters added to the base game. Smash Ultimate is seriously lacking in female newcomer representation and the fact that even gender-swapped costumes that should be obvious are missing out is even worse.
