This community's way of handling "metacommentary" (i.e. introspection) is abysmal. But it doesn't have to be.

• A thread where the OP was concerned about this place making them feel for depressed: Closed for metacommentary.
• A thread where the OP was praising this place: Left open.
• A thread where the OP was concerned at the lack of empathy on this site regarding Etika's suicidal video: Closed for having "no purpose but metacommentary about the community."

The trend is clear, and this "metacommentary is okay only if it's praising us" policy is extremely toxic. There's a real concerted effort to keep underlying problems here as hidden as possible. A cancer loves nothing more than to be hidden away with make-up. This is becoming more and more apparent with each passing day.

"PM a mod" is the refrain. But when there's a cultural problem, the community as a whole needs to discuss it. Individual PMs that may or may not be answered just don't cut it.

The rule should not be to never discuss our community's problems. Discussing our community's problems is the only way to fix them. Burying them just makes it worse.

The rule should instead be to ensure sincerity and civility when discussing our problems. Not shutting down all community criticism in the most counter-productive ways.
