Looks like the list is sorted by total number of players/subscribers. The actual numbers next to the name seems to be how many players are on today?

Yeah that stood out to me, I thought Roblox was supposed to be huge. About a year ago they had 90 million monthly users.

WoW hasn't officially reported its sub numbers in over 5 years. The closest thing we have is that WoW sub numbers doubled when Classic was released and they were a bit higher than that when 2020 started.

The numbers are estimates, which doesn't mean much.

Also, a lot of these games are subscription-based and many are F2P. How are you supposed to compare those? Player numbers \= active subscribers.

So many of these games don't release numbers I never know how they come up with these lists. ESO only ever says we gained x% of players this year.

Some of these numbers are blatantly wrong. Besides the fact most games don't report their numbers, Roblox is way too low.

I took a glance at the Roblox site list of popular games and if their own numbers of currently playing numbers are correct "Scoob Adopt Me!" has about 500k people playing. And "Piggy" has 260k. And that's just 2 games inside Roblox. There are countless others in the 20k-100k range. That's assuming "Playing" means currently playing which it looks like since it has other metrics for tracking total people to play.
