LEXINGTON, Kentucky: A "technical issue" resulted in 500,000 high school students receiving acceptance notices to the University of Kentucky.

"Only a handful of those on the prospect list had been admitted to UK," university spokesman Jay Blanton said, as reported by The Associated Press.

When contacted, some students said they never had applied to the University of Kentucky, nor had they ever been to the school or even visited its website.
