So we're inching closer and closer to 2020, which is shaping up to be one of the greatest, if not possibly THE greatest, year for gaming of all time.

It made me think about other standout years and I wanted to see how everyone would rank the top 5 best years. Please explain why you think each year is so special and which games amazed you!

A list thread is a thread that encourages replies that largely or completely take the form of lists. For example: Asking members to rank their favorite characters in media.
