Right now absolutely Xbox game studios

They have real visionary leadership right now

being the underdog bringa out the best in compaines

i feel Sony has become a bit predictable these last 2-3 years. I really hope they try to diversify their output next gen (every AAA is 3rd person cinematic singleplayer)

Already mentioned, but yeah, the moment I see Annapurna pop up in a trailer (game or movie), I'm generally 100% on board and day one.

Doublefine had a nice little run with some stuff and still have Samurai Gunn 2 on the way, but we'll have to see how the Microsoft deal impacts that branch of the company.

Sony. They make very high quality single player games I consistently want to play - very high number of GOTY class games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Bloodborne and Days Gone. They are warming up to PC.

Nintendo:
- Diverse portfolio
- Reviving forgotten franchises (Marvel UA3, Clubhouse games)
- Budgets of their games vary (means more games) but always fun
- Less time between announcement and release
- Polished as fuck games

Namco:
- Prioritize new IPs
- Rarely delays games
- Low budget but fun anime games to fill the release schedule
- Trying to support as many platforms as possible.

Annapurna:
- Funds/publishes games that are very small budget to bigger ones
- Diverse portfolio
- Supports as many platforms as possible, no one is left behind

Good choices as well

I would agree if they didn't lock their games on consoles

But their entire business is the platform. Their games are just a way to increase value of the hardware, which is where - through licenses and services - the real money is.

Point is, Sony and Nintendo don't make the kind of consistently amazing games that they do UNLESS they were tied to their platforms.

That's the whole point.

Sony, Nintendo and Capcom have had a pretty good slate of releases the past couple years. I booted up Spider-Man last and just marveled (heh) that the game even exists.

I'm pretty surprised by the Microsoft answers. I think they have huge potential but their recent output definitely isn't enough to put them at the top.

I'd go for Sony and Nintendo probably. I think Bethesda publishes some pretty cool stuff too.

Doesn't that suggest their platforms have almost no value without exclusives?

For me personally, none of their games look amazing enough to justify paying $500 for a 30fps machine, without kb/m support or modding.

Capcom: Great games(aside from REmake 3's massacre that is)
Sega: Really great games every year. I really liked their output this gen. I also love the fact they license their IPs to other devs.
Sony: Hit after hit and they are always quality.
Devolver: Same as Sony.
