Pissed off mom confronts Scott Pruitt at Washington restaurant about his many misdeeds https://trib.al/FpEUuaB

Kristin Mink was having lunch with her toddler in Washington, D.C., when she noticed who was sitting three tables over: EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.

In a video posted to her Facebook account, Mink walks up to Pruitt and an unidentified companion and confronts him over his record of environmental deregulation and open corruption. According to Mink's video, the confrontation occurred at Teaism in downtown Washington on Monday.

These people don't care. Especially someone who has been as open about it as Pruitt.

Still, great to see citizens in their daily lives calling this bullshit out.

Yep. There's more of us than there are of them. That means this is our society. They're the monsters who aren't welcome in it.

Pretty sure he specifically got his big security detail because he was worried about "threats" which boiled down to "people being mean to me about things I did." So, given that this woman was able to tell him off, not only is he spending tons of money on a private security team, he also hired a team that is bad at their job.

Out of context, this sounds like something a racist would say.

I'm incredibly racist against this administration. Trumpist.

My point was that people think that the left is powerless. We might not be the ones in power but we don't have to be silent.

Expect a visit in the future from the Secret Service for her even though that's intimidation and outside the scope of them. Or a tweet from Trump attacking her and her family for her speaking her mind. Or Sean Hannity attacking her on his program.

It's sad that it is predictable the response any news story about this administration will get instead of hearing the valid concerns, reflecting on current behavior and changing their actions.

Which is why it is incredibly brave what she did and we need to support her. Not only that, we should all make it our civic duty to ruin the days of these corrupt pricks every chance we get if we see them in public. Make it so they are embarrassed to show their faces anywhere where people may be.

That's the problem -- they won't be embarrassed and will play the victim a la SHS and her Secret Service detail. Protestors interrupting speeches will have to happen. Protestors interrupting White House press briefings need to occur. The State of the Union being drowned out with protests and audio of children crying for their parents will help. Anything that forces Trump and his company to face the reality of what they think benefit them doesn't benefit others. Short of breaking the law, there's nothing to combat the echo chamber for the right wing.

I'm glad she stood up and I will support her - I just know what will happen and what I hear at work, church, and anywhere else.

Well, when the administration is, above all else, obsessed with "not looking weak," it makes them very predictable. They cannot abide an attack or provocation of any sort without response, because, as bullies, they realize that compromises their power. Once they got trapped in the obsession with appearing strong, they became depressingly predictable.

How Democrats haven't run Pruitt out of fucking town and raised a bigger stink in the media, or just walk up to him and fuck with him like this lady, they are completely neutered.

These are the people that are the true animals. The ones that sell and profit off of their peers and fellow human beings. Good riddance (Eventually. Do your part America)

Excellent! Everything she said was backed up by evidence, reason and compassion. He is destructive blockhead... It is insane that a fool like him occupies the position he does and can make the pretense that he is legitimate. Every sane person should be saying the same to this asshole.

More of this. People involved in this kind of corruption and harm against our country shouldn't be allowed to go around and pretend that everything is fine. They should be reminded constantly that we know what they're trying to do and realize that there are consequences for their actions.

I applaud this wholeheartedly. She was extremely polite, calm, and on point. There is absolutely nothing wrong with holding the powers that be accountable in a manner such as this. No one was refused anything. No one was screamed at. I guarantee that any humanity that resides in that man was affected far more this way that had she berated him. Point being, it's easy to dismiss a belligerent detractor as irrational and Ill informed. Far less so when they behave rationally and speak to facts.

I'm not gonna take away a thing from her, what she did was great, but are you saying they shouldn't be refused or screamed at? That man deserves far, far less than the grace she showed him.

There is none.

Yes, that is my opinion. I see no positive result that can come of it. If your position is strong, the facts are on your side, and you have the numbers to support you, then a calm and rational approach can suffice.

For me, this is similar to the difference in argument between violent and non violent protest.

Now, I know many vocal posters here disagree with me, so I'm sure my notifications will blow up per usual.

But I will always remain steadfast in my belief that great change can come through peaceful means.

The facts aren't on your side on this one, hence the notifications. The best outcomes are peaceful and rational with a clear and present threat behind it. Even the lauded civil rights movement.

The threat doesn't have to be physically violent but it does have to be enough to make the other side back down.

Without it, well.... Who remembers the German Left that got stomped out by the Nazis? They had all the facts, their position was clear.

They had no power to back them.

lol hoo boy

So I guess kids are being put in cages because liberals, what, didn't explain it to the right properly? Are Nazi's just waiting with baited breath for someone to say the right words in just the right way?

It can. And sometimes it can't.

It might be the problem is less that you recognize the former, and more you don't recognize the latter.

From what we've seen of Pruit up to this point, it's entirely possible that he isn't going to give a shit about any calm disagreement and keep on trucking.

One can protest without being violent.

One can be heard without screaming.

Does screaming and hand wringing change policy, or does infiltrating the system and/or voting in candidates that support your policy change policy?

We can and do, that is certainly one component.

Are you a straight white dude by any chance? Ask a PoC or an LGBT individual if they are being heard.

Ah right, civility. If only we ask nicely police will stop killing black people in the streets. Trolling, racism, sexism, and fascism just won an election and we're getting. The Civil War started an end to slavery. The sometimes violent protests helped get the Voting Rights Act passed in 1965. People coming to the table and talking it out was never going to bring an end to slavery or let black people vote. Fascism dictates that you can't just vote in the candidate you support if you don't support the fascist candidate, your whole argument assumes a just and perfect society when right now our democracy is on the verge of collapse. We could absolutely solve our problems through voting and legislation if the whole system were not rigged against opposing racism and bigotry and keeping people down.

We need more of this. These people need to be made afraid of their constituents. That's who they should be answering to. Especially this scumbag. Justice can't come soon enough for him.
