I get a paid holiday. No extra $$ if I decide to work.

I'm working a 12 hour shift tonight (7p-7a) and I'll be getting time and a half for tomorrow morning (12am-7am).

It's the best of both worlds since I get some holiday pay and actually get to enjoy the holiday after a quick nap (no work the night of the 4th).

Yep, time and a half. But I work from 8 to 4, so it doesnt conflict with any family plans we have tomorrow.

It's insane how America has no mandatory national holidays or paid vacation.

I get the day paid, though I was used to working on the 4th when I was younger. I never had plans until the evening anyway. Heat index could reach up to 110 with all the humidity where I live tomorrow so I would have been okay working inside.

Yes, I get a paid day off tomorrow. The only downside is it does not count towards overtime pay. I'm not sure if that is the standard or not but its better then nothing.
