Season 6 is one of the best seasons, people are hating. 5 just had that fucking awful scene -_- but was still very good. Season 7 had some great moments but fell far too much into Hollywood shit. Worst season by some distance. Still good, but nowhere near the level it used to be.

Saying that, totally agree. I need season 8 stat!!

Also, fuck Cersei. I'm going to enjoy when she has a miserable death.

I miss the concept of having read the books, and waiting for people's reaction on queue. Was a unique viewing experience those first few seasons.

I love GoT too but there's so much great TV nowadays that I don't really mind waiting

I miss George RR Martin being a writer.

This.

Song of Ice and Fire is by far the greatest book series ever put onto paper. Storm of Swords is one of, if not the greatest book to have graced my eyes.

I prey, to the old gods and the new, that we get Winds in 2019.

The show is okay and I want to see how I pans out, but it's gone in such a different direction to the books that it's basically fan fiction now. To a degree, I totally get it. The budget is not big enough to make a complete adaptation of the books. It would be great if it did, but the cost would be out of this world.

In a way, I kinda regret even starting the show. It kinda ruined the characters in the books. For example, Ned and Catelyn Stark are in their mid 30s, but in the show they're in their 50s. I can no longer picture the 30 something Starks like I used to and just think of the show versions when I read the books.

Also hate what they did to Loras in the show. Seriously, they fucked up Loras hard.

Anyway, still looking forward to the final season, and to see what they do with the spin offs.

This is where Game of Thrones died.
Yeah, I think they never really knew what to do with Littlefinger after Season 4 - his motivations sort of stopped having any sort of consistency to them and his plans got smaller and smaller. The show's had to make a lot of dull creative sacrifices in order to turn itself into something even remotely capable of being wrapped up in Season 7.

For lovers
I miss when the series focused on "people talking in rooms". Like, the best scene in S7 was Cersei and Tyrion finally having their long overdue conversation. The big budget setpieces are nice, especially when Saponchik (SP) is directing, but the interactions between characters are what elevated it.

It's why I want to scream at everyone thinking about making a genre show, ''It's the characters, stupid!" Also why Lost still holds up despite butchering its overall mysteries.

The show has been in such a rush when it spent an entire season on the Sparrows, a pointless waste of time if I've seen one. Mind-boggling.

If you want another show with people scheming, and banging, and fighting with swords, I recommend The Last Kingdom on Netflix.

I miss the show as well, Season 7 was rushed and had many plot holes but I still enjoyed watching it. I still have hope that they can deliver a satisfying final Season.

I don't miss recent Game of Thrones, even though I enjoyed season 6 well enough I guess. It's really not the same as early on. I'm really not excited to see how they end it and I would've never said that when I first read the books and saw the show.

Sure, if you're a big dumb action fan then S6 is great, if you actually cared about the politics or character development, then no. The only difference between S6 and S7 is the amount of action, both are sufficiently dumb.

Midgar, With Love
I really, really, really miss Game of Thrones too.

4 > 6 > 7 > 3 > 1 > 2 > 5, all at least good, so I'm not concerned about 8 -- I'll probably love it.

People who don't like the recent seasons: jfc, we get it.

I'm not really excited for the new season tbh. Wish the time where fighting over the throne and politics were the prevalent theme in the show and anything could happen.

4 as well. 5 was shit, 6 was was decent while 7 turned into a long action movie with plot holes everywhere.

Basically.

Before I didn't want to think about the show ending; now, not getting the last season until next year doesn't really bother me.

i share most of the opinions in this thread, i'm really only in it for closure at this point (i've given up on the books ever giving us an ending)

i can't think of a way the show can provide satisfying conclusions to all of the current plot lines and character arcs though, especially not in a season shorter than the standard

Honestly the huge delay has had almost the exact opposite effect on me.

I pretty much don't ever think of GOT anymore. Don't get me wrong I'll be there when it comes out to see the end but all hype has pretty much died.

For record, I don't expect season 8 to be any good. Season 7 sure as hell wasnt. But the way thing are setup, it should be entertaining as hell at the very least

It's really nosedived in quality lately, will just be nice to see the conclusion finally

Like the books, quality fell off hard in the latter parts. Everything A Feast for Crows onwards is meandering with only the briefest moments of genius.

Last season was satisfying with threads coming together, but the pacing was so inconsistent and it felt too rushed for the most part.

I just want one satisfying ending. I'll take book or screen at this point. The first three books are too good to not get the ending they deserve.

Eh, Westworld was a fine replacement for shows that are only good for the conversations around them.

Shit's annoying, yo.

Tried getting into Westworld this past season thinking it'd be something that'd tie me over until Winter comes next year.

Nah.

The only thing WW succeeded in doing was making me miss GoT even more.

This show just fills such a unique space in terms of characters and lore that I'm starting to have withdrawals. I can't believe I have to still wait another freaking year for the conclusion of this shit.

Anyone else getting anxious?
I'm right there with you, bruh. I miss the hype around GoT. For the past few years before the new season I've been marathoning the previous seasons. Shit is so cash. One episode every day before the new season and then BAM! New season waiting for you right there and then. But this year I have nothing. No marathon, no weekly viewing party with my family, no weekly threads on here and Reddit and other places, no nothing. I want my GoT. :<

By the way, I still think Jon x Dany has 0% chemistry. Shit's like watching paint dry.

But this isn't a gif of Littlefinger telling Sansa he doesn't know anything about the Bastard she's about to marry.

Or Dany having her dragons stolen.

Man, the writers have been making unforgivable character mistakes for years, huh.

Yup. I'm just a Littlefinger fan lol.

Yo, you really want me to list all the hilariously stupid shit in S6? Because, there is A LOT. It's bad.
Calm down with the hyperbolic nonsense. You're shitting on a show for dumb action shit.. while rocking a dumb action movie avatar. If you want to name them, put them down. I've read the GoT threads regularly and most issues is cringe inducing arm chair writers who make certain situations seem far worse than they really are.

That's mostly because each individual actor has almost no charisma.

Jon and Ygritte made for a good couple, but then the actors liked each other well enough to get married. The current pairing just is a jarring experience in contrast, especially with how hard the show is pushing their romance.
