Mario Tennis Aces should have been a Strikers game to begin with given the World Cup is on right now. Seems like a missed opportunity.

Mario Tennis Aces was made with the base of Mario Tennis Ultra Smash by Camelot which is the company that makes Tennis and Golf games of the series. Strikers is made by a different company which made the last game on the series in the Wii. I think it's clear why it didn't happened.

This was my first mario tennis game and I'm really enjoying it. I never tried Mario Striker before so I'd be really interested in a new one for Switch.

Yes. I have spent so many hours in both Smash Football and Charged Football with friends. It's probably my favorite Mario Sports series.
I hope Next Level Games goes back to this. Would have been awesome to have another one in conjunction with the world cup, but alas...

Hell yeah, my son and I used to play the shit out of the GC version. Open up the roster ala Mario Kart 8...

Nintendo could have always got a third party to port one of the other two games or got a different company to make a Strikers game. They own the IP.

Maybe they could. They didn't. My correction was about Tennis being out instead of Strikers when Tennis is in a different situation.
I just think it would have made more sense to schedule a strikers game for release during the World Cup. Might have given the brand a bit of boost. It was within their power to do so. As you say though, they didn't. Maybe they just don't rate Strikers as much as Tennis.

I agree. We need to tell Nintendo to make one already. I like Tennis but is crazy how we keep getting Mario Tennis games but no Strikers.

I want a new Mario Hoops.

This isn't a joke post. I legitimately loved the original DS game which was developed by freaking Square Enix.

I'd be so down for some arcade soccer, there used to be heaps of arcade soccer games back in the day.

Why are some of you folks dissing on Mario Strikers Charged (Wii sequel)?

I loved the GC one (actually played a ton of it yesterday, still definitely holds up), but in my opinion Charged improves upon it in every single way. You could argue that you hate motion controls, but they are kept to a minimum and used to great effect in this case.

I'm praying that Federation Forces didn't do too much damage to Next Level Games, because this series needs to return.

I would argue that Tennis is the most popular Mario Sports franchise, but Strikers is actually the best one. From the gameplay systems to the amount of personality that team gives to each character, it's a formula that's pretty hard to beat.

Strikers was awesome, more visually stunning, and had the coolest animations for the characters ultimate ability.

I want some actual effort though, not "the core game is great but its lacking in so many areas!" I know nintendo makes amazing games at it's core, but they keep trying to sell these half backed games on the side. It honestly amazes that they made such quality sports titles for the gamecube, they had strikers, tennis, baseball, and all of them were good. I really don't see why making those same kinda games and making them hd is so difficult, are hd graphics really that much more difficult?

Those wiimote super goals are way too unbalanced
Yup, rage quit-ed and sold it soon after.

I hate to be "that" guy, but this is mostly a case of not "gitting gud" enough. I played that game for countless hours and can say with certainty that, when you get to a certain skill level, those multi-goal specials are mostly a big waste of everyone's time.

Basically, me and my friends could defend them 99% of the time. The little special meter is divided into two parts, first is the number of balls you can shoot at once, the other is how fast they travel. Between two skilled players, the only way to even have enough time to activate that is to do the first part as quickly as possible and try to hit the sweetspot on the second part, which means you get the minimum number of balls but at maximum speed.

In my experience, you are much better off trying to score the "normal" way, as well as using the support characters Special Shots.
Still, despite them not being effective against us, we loved the way the Multi-Shot Specials were implemented. They add variety to the gameplay and always kept us on the edge of our seats.

I would buy day zero.

I don't get why there aren't more great arcade soccer games. FIFA is one of the most popular games in the world and soccer is by far the most popular sport.

I guess rocket league is kind of an arcade soccer game but I want one along the lines of what Nintendo and Sega put out in the GC gen. Those games were so good and I bet they would sell really well. Especially if multiplatform.

No we need Mario Golf. I really hope they keep following in Hot Shots Golf footsteps (as they have all along) and do open world courses. The last Everybodys Golf was so fun driving around the courses and I can imagine them having way more fun with the idea if it was Mario characters.

Basically this but Mario characters:
