Random question but did Easy Allies stream or archive their reaction to the Breath of the Wild reveal and Treehouse gameplay from E3 2016? I couldn't find it on Youtube. Maybe they didn't do any Nintendo live stream stuff that year because Nintendo didn't have a conference or direct?
Nope, they didn't. :/

Nah, they're on the showfloor when the Treehouse streams are going on.

still watching friend code.

Kyle kinda contradicted himself. He said he gets a huge connection when his Wobbbafet clutches out matches.

But then argued that competitive pokemon players who raise their pkmn for hours to have those perfect setups, and compete, wouldn't feel a connection.

I agree that Pokemon needs sidequests to make the world and pokemon matter more.
But there's like 100 things pokemon could improve on as a JRPG so where the eff do u start

I don't think that's a contradiction. IIRC he's mostly referring to the process of breeding dozens/hundreds of eggs in the hunt for a Pokémon with the right combination of nature, ability, and IVs. Then boxing or releasing all failures. When you're just churning out egg after egg like a Pokémon factory, I do think that can cheapen your attachment to Pokémon.

Attachment to Pokémon is only a thing for the main story, so I don't know why it should have any bearing to the competetive side. No normal person is breeding and casting off their Pokémon in the story, especially when the games are easy as it is. It's a weird complaint or gripe when the competitive side and story side aims for totally different things.

I worry now that the 50k is just out of reach that their patreon drop in the next few months will be similar to the last few years and the studio is even further away :/

Chuck, buddy, you have been spiraling for the better part of a week now. Don't worry, dude. The momentum is all traveling in the direction of EZA. You are panicking. I doubt much changes whether they are at 49k or 50k. Either way, they are going to be doing a lot of prep work for the studio in the oncoming months.

They didn't do a live reaction that year. I think they were under the impression, like some other people, that Nintendo wouldn't do anything and just randomly drop a trailer or something.

Thanks for the responses all. I was curious to see how everyone reacted to the initial reveal of BOTW with the trailer and gameplay demo. I think it's going to be a long time before a game creates shock waves throughout the entire video game community with an E3 reveal the way BOTW did at E3 2016.

Kyle has the hottest take of the year about upcoming RPGs in this week's podcast.

Dragon quest 11 is going to eat kingdom hearts butt lol

He said all mainline FF games were better than persona 5. When Ben challenged him with FF13 Kyle doubled down and said ff13 is a better game than P5

I hear you and while that is a very hot take it is not
saying that one game is going to eat the ass of another game which is on a whole other level for bosman. I'm not even sure if he realized what he said lol. /SPOILER]

I said it in this thread before and I'll say it again.

EZA is not ready for a studio just yet. I don't think they are at a financially stable point. They still have to grow organically. This month was some super weird outlier (I knew they wouldn't get above 50k as soon as that massive drop came in), so we have to see what they look like after a few months.

HOWEVER, I do think they are growing. 100%. To me, the most important number is Patrons. Is that number growing?

As of right now, yes. They drop at the start of every month, but each month, that number starts off higher.

So while I do understand your frustration, I honestly think it would have been pretty foolish to get a studio now at this point. (Mind you, thats me assuming that 50k is the absolute minimum threshold. What happens if they stabilize at 48k? 49k? Is that too low? I honestly don't know. )

They will get there though. Maybe not in 2018, but I honestly believe sometime in 2019, they will be in a studio, and we won't have this "OMG, will they be above 50k for the month?!?!" They'll have more Patrons, and more dollars spread across them, so that when the drop does come, it isn't this massive 4k drop they just had.

Give it time man. They'll get there. More slowly than you may like, but when they do get there, it'll be for real this time.

I seriously love the desire index. I can't remember where I saw the idea, but I think someone suggested them getting a permanent board in the eventual new studio with magnetic game titles that can be shifted around accordingly all year. In my mind, it would look like an old Top Gear leaderboard but for game hype. Please make this happen, haha.

That's a great idea! I'd love to see an Easy Allies 'Cool Wall' too.

This might be just me, but I think the audio quality of the allies shows has dropped since they got the new gear for E3.

I'm no audio expert but I've found on podcasts some people are loud and others are quiet. I'm constantly having to turn the volume up and down to hear it all. Then in the Hall of the Greats video (which was good fun) I found the audio really echoey and distant versus other streams that I've watched.

Don't get me wrong I love their work and will continue to watch regardless, I just found it interesting that I personally have noticed a downgrade since they got the new equipment.

I might be one of the only ones that thinks this, but I feel like the audio mixing has always been subpar.
But yes, it's definitely gotten even more uneven after they got the new gear. Likely just an adjustment period.

Persona 5 isn't amazing.

I beat all 120 hours of it.

-The story was extremely lack luster.
-Some of the dungeons got really annoying.
-Dragged on for WAY too long. Like, this game was 2 WHOLE DUNGEONS too long.
-The battle system isn't deep enough to support a 110+ hour game

This was my first Persona game, but I'd give it a solid 7.5. A bit above average for me.

FF XIII has problems for sure, but that battle system was addicting as shit.

My main problem though is the story. I hate how every character got their own arc/dungeon. The overall plot gets lost until the very end. Then at the end its like "uhhh......................ok..............???" Fucking bizarre ending and boss.

I don't want to seem like I'm ragging on it too much, because I did enjoy it. Like, 120 hours. That is rare for me to stick with a game for that long. But there are a lot of negatives I had while playing that game.

P5 is great but also has some aspects to it that can be off putting or a big negative to some people. FFXIII is a solid game and also has some aspects to it that can be off putting or a big negative to some people.

Not much of a hot take/stretch that someone likes all the mainline FF games more than P5.

We have officially entered the Twilight Zone.

Is this also the timeline where Too Human is perceived as being a better game than Breath of the Wild? Because I think I am more on board with that hot take...

TLOU2 would be #2 on my own list, but I am surprised they haven't challenged it yet.

Death Stranding #1.

I think aside from Ian and maybe Damiani, I might be remember that wrong, all allies really like TLOU so not that surprised it's so high up.

Death Stranding #1.

2 on my list as well, and that's just because it's still a ways off. Resident evil is #1.

While I don't know about all mainline FF games, I did enjoy FF13 a lot more than Persona 5. FF13 was linear to a fault and didn't have a very engaging plot, but its pacing kept me going and escalated everything nicely. Persona 5 kind of peaked in its first arc for me, and would have constant lulls. The story teases that were supposed to get you through these dips were too predictable to keep me engaged. I "took a break" from Persona like three times, and now that I learned that I have four more dungeons to go, I doubt I'll pick it back up again.

I think it comes up because it directly clashes with the stories and morals of the Pokémon franchise as a whole. Pokémon keeps harping on about how Pokémon are friends and not tools, and the trainers that do use them as tools are cold, bad people. In many of the stories the games and shows and movies tell, these trainers get taught a lesson and change their ways. The competitive Pokémon scene flies in the face of all of that, seeing Pokémon as tools and numbers. arewethebaddies.gif

I honestly dont understand how big that drop was though.. Blood said it's a handful of big Patreons of wich their bank cancelled the transaction. Did none of those do the necessary steps afterwards? Kinda weird. I'm not in a hurry for them getting a studio but a drop of 4k is just ridiculous. I mean, should i still not read into it and wait for the 6th?

Yeah, a few days ago he was trying to be reassuring saying the payment cancellations have never been more than 1.2% or something like that. But obviously this month it's way different. Cruel timing, with the whole Patreon post and everything.

I think it doesn't show correctly on patreon because a lot of people upped their pledge for last month and now went down again (after payment).
They probably will get more money than it's currently showing.

The patreon amount went up since yesterday and the dollar amount went down a couple of times. I don't think there are a lot of problems with people who can't/don't pay. It's just people lowering their tier. Probably also the guy who started this whole thing with his big pledge (I forgot his name).

I can't be 100% sure of this, but it seems that way to me.
I do have to say that the drop is even bigger than the big drop in total than I expected. The drop itself isn't that much bigger (I expect a 3.5 to 4k drop), but I expected it to have gone up more in those few days.

Edit:
This is also the time of year where people use their money to go on holidays and whatnot.
I can't remember if the drop after E3 was sustained for the summer months the last few years, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
