Idris Elba is in final negotiations to play the main villain in "Hobbs and Shaw," the "Fast and Furious" spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

"Deadpool 2" director David Leitch is on board to helm, with Johnson and Statham reprising their roles as special agent Luke Hobbs and criminal mastermind Deckard Shaw, respectively. "Fast and Furious" architect Chris Morgan penned the script, with production set to commence this fall.

These movies should operate where the last villain becomes a part of the team during the next movie. Then after a few movies we spin off to a new series using two of the popular team members who were previously villains.

So they're leaning in on that Rock/Vin "feud" eh? Split into Fast franchise and Furious Franchise with Avengers-like Fast/Furious team ups after a couple solos.

I wonder on a range of 1 (the original FF) and 10 (the last FF) how dumb and logic defying the action will be.

Maybe The Rock catches a bullet with his mouth and spits it back and kills the bad guy in this one or something...

Was already planning on seeing it since Rock/Statham were the best parts of 8.

With Leitch directing and Idris playing the villain I'm looking forward to it even more.

Fast 8 was not nearly as good as the ones before it, but Hobbs and Shaw were the (only?) Highlights. I will be there day one for this spin off.

Hobbs ans Shaw bonded. But Hobbs made it up to Dom by rescuing his baby from Evil Charlize Theron. So that makes him even I guess.
Edit: Spoilers for Furious 8 obviously.
