I think Cait Sith will need more of a mechanical rework than the other characters for FF7R (and story-wise Reeve should get more prominence). He's definitely got the weirdest/worst Limit Breaks in the original.

Cait Sith is just one of those scenarios I bring up when people say FF7 IS LIKE MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME then ask them about little basic trivia they get wrong and I just roll my eyes

I get that the character is actually the black cat, but why include another robot moogle? It just seems unnecessary.

I guess if you think of it more of a mech and not a moogle, it's not quite as frivolous.

Anyway, I like Cait Sith, even if the design messes with my head.

i'm p sure cait sith was in 4-6 before ff7, and he was always just the cat

presumably the moogle is just for size

I love Cait Sith. I only recently learned how the name is pronounced thanks to Tim Rogers. I was definitely mind blown, haha.

I like him, and I feel Reeve is an underrated character. It blew my mind that this background character was actually someone who had been with the party for so long. It gave a lot of depth to Shinra as well.

Cait Sith is alright. I only used him in one playthrough but he wasn't bad. Cool/weird limit breaks.

Cait Sith was a summon in 6, localized as Stray in the SNES release. It's effect was to confuse the enemy party.

Cait Sith also appeared as one of Lulu's weapons in FF X, which is appropriate considering the similarities to how Reeve uses VII's Cait Sith.

Cait Sith also appears as a summon in FFXI and in a story role as an actual magic talking cat in FFXIV.

I like his design but I am a heavy limit break user, and I cant be having no LB that can randomly wipe my party.

Idk, there's just something cute about a little black robot cat and his robot moogle buddy one shotting Emerald Weapon.

Admittedly I never used him much but I have a soft spot for black cats so he gets pass by me.

He is an animatronic fortune-telling puppet that is remote-controlled by Reeve to embed with your group as a spy for Shinra. The Cait Sith puppet was chosen because it fits in with the theme of the Gold Saucer, a whimsical amusement park, which is where the party meets him and where Reeve likely knows the party will be based on the Turks' tailing of them. The party takes him to be real or at least self-aware and agrees to let him accompany them on their search for Sephiroth based on an ominous fortune he gives Cloud.

Starting with Dirge of Cerberus they actually explained it by saying Reeve had a special power to 'breathe life into inanimate objects' called "Inspire."

Yeah it's kind of dumb. I wonder if the remake will use that setting

I will always and forever love Cait Sith. Not only because of the actual historical lore behind it, but because when I first played FFVII, Safer-Sephiroth wiped the floor with me (I was severely underleveled as it turned out). Can you guess who my last character standing was? One last chance, one last spin of the slots... Face, Face, Face. Watching that little Grim Reaper show up and take Sephiroth down when I was a hair's breadth away from losing... man that's one of my fondest gaming moments, and why I love Cait Sith.

Cait Sith, before you know about Reeves:

Cait Sith is a talking cat that pilots an animatronic theme park robot that's shaped like an oversized moogle.

Cait Sith, after you know about Reeves:

Cait Sith is an advanced robotic cat that pilots a much less advanced animatronic theme park robot. The robotic cat is being remotely controlled by Reeves, head of the Urban Development department of Shinra corporation.

Hating Cait Sith is hating Reeves. Reeves is probably one of the more interesting characters. The insider of Shinra with a heart having a massive internal struggle that ultimately leads him to side with Avalanche.

A LOT better of a character and motivation than Yuffy... just not a great party member in battle.

Cait Sith is a good character, but not really because of what was presented in the game. There's a TON of opportunity to expand the character and make it something more than a gimmick character that serves to move the plot in the second act. Hopefully the remake gives Reeve the screen time he deserves and take away the needless ambiguity around Cait.

Does it have some sort of rudimentary AI? Reeve can't be controlling it 100% of the time. And what's the point of the moogle part? Seems like they could've just built Cait for battle itself. This character makes no sense LOL

edit; Also that easter egg(?) where you can see it in the Honeybee Inn and then Reeve's parents are there too? FFVII is so bizarre it's great.

Its a really bad character in an otherwise pretty solid cast.

He's the reason FF7 speed runs have to be separated into "slots" and "no slots" categories.

Was just about the only part about FF7 I liked. It was a really clever idea and I never understood the hate the character received.

Cait Sith was an enemy in FFIV or V. That's all I know.

Why is it people always argue that things in the remake should be kept the same but then go "expect maybe Cait Sith who should go" lmao
Maybe, but just maybe, the people who argue the former aren't the same who argue the latter?

I for one am open to changes in the remake in general and wouldn't care if Cait Sith was written out. For example they could just make Reeve call you on your phone secretly to give you insider info and warn you instead of using Cait Sith.

Starting with Dirge of Cerberus they actually explained it by saying Reeve had a special power to 'breathe life into inanimate objects' called "Inspire."

Yeah it's kind of dumb. I wonder if the remake will use that setting
Wait, really?? Lmao.

I've heard people go "keep everything the same but him" before so yeah lol

I don't get the hate for him at all.

This is a stupid, Reeve is an engineer and architect. He can build something like that without the need of a special power.

Anyway Cait Sith is a cop, what's interesting is the man behind it. Reeve is a very good character with not enough screentime, the only guy in the higher circles of Shinra who actually had any regrets for what he did and aimed to correct that. Reeve should have had the time he deserved to show how hanging around AVALANCHE changed him and spurred him to fight back.

They're mascot robots controlled by Reeve remotely. I haven't played the game in forever and even I remember that.

Of course it should be in the remake, how is that even a question?

He's a shit character in terms of gameplay. Too much rng in his LB. I never gotten that Cait Sith Game Over one. Its OP as hell, when it works, but I bench him through my journey.
Fine with him in the remake, but rework his LB.

I only played through the game once, many years ago, but I remember he died and then was back so it was pretty clear he was a robot.
