that kinda sucks, I will still need eshop at least. What makes you get banned? Just running homebrew? Or you have to do something stupid like cheating?

It's strange. The Switch keeps secret logs of all the modifications that have been installed on it. Hackers haven't figured out how or where the Switch logs this. The Switch then sends this info to Nintendo when it connects online.

Generally people get banned for connecting online while running a hack (homebrew, custom firmware, incorrect backups, definitely online game hacks & cheats, etc). That's just having an online connection.

They know where all the logs are. The issue is that clearing them entirely gets you a ban too.

So the switch can play almost anything Nintendo( not Wii or WiiU) + retro consoles and PS1+PSP? Impressive. Might get a second switch soon.

If your Switch gets banned you lose all access to all online services including eShop access, game updates and patches and online play.
Not really, if you get banned from using cfw, you only losses online play, eshop and updates will still available.

However if you downloaded something from CDN or used layeredFS you could loss eshop access, bubut you still can get game patches.

Because you can carry a decent gaming PC to bed or into the subway yeap
Well if the purpose is GameCube/Wii (plus some Wii U) level emulation you certainly can with a GPD WIN 2, though it is an expensive little device for that alone.

I was excited to see this news because that would have meant that hackers achieved hardware acceleration in Switch homebrew. However, it's just* a Linux port running on the Switch.

*Not implying that it's a small feat. But Switch homebrew you run from the Switch OS itself is much more user friendly than Linux programs running on a Linux port (which requires a bunch of setup like partitioning the SD card, and then there's the Linux boot process). But as of now, hackers haven't yet achieved 3D or hardware acceleration in homebrew that runs on the Switch OS. (Hardware acceleration was achieved in Linux through drivers since day 1.)

You're crazy if you're a single Switch owner and do any of this dirt - you might not be banned today or tomorrow, but it's coming.

Bought a second one a few months ago just for this purpose though!

Wait, I thought just the Wii could play the gamecube discs, not Wii U. Or was there a hack eventually for the Wii U?

It couldn't read the discs, but if you ripped your discs to ISOs (via a homebrew OG BC Wii that could), you could run the ISOs on the Wii U with Nintendon't. The architecture for the Gamecube was still there and usable.

Im convinced. I will get a second switch soon. Ds games and Dolphin. And now psp? Wow. Nintendo really dropped the ball with gamecube support. Unless they knew it was only a matter of time before this would happen?

So is this as close as we have to a Lakka discussion thread for Switch? Because I am thinking about picking up a second Switch just for it.
