https://www.gameinformer.com/2018/0...who-helped-kill-cayde-6-in-destiny-2-forsaken

At the start of Destiny 2: Forsaken's campaign, Uldren Sov, the Prince of the Reef, shoots Cayde-6 dead. This sets him up as the main antagonist you'll be taking revenge against in Forsaken, but Cayde doesn't die by his hand alone; to pull off the feat, he has help from the Barons, a group of powerful Scorn enemies. Hunting down the Barons comprises a large part of your journey the initial campaign, and each has their own story, traits, and boss encounter, making them some of Destiny 2's most interesting foes yet.

Bungie was able to give us in-depth, official info on who each of these Barons are, including their history, stats, and brief snippets of insight from Cayde himself, learned from when he had to put the Barons in their place the first time around.

If it would Release in the next weeks I would probably buy it.

But because its coming in September I can wait and play other games. If the reception is good I will get it maybe, if not thanks to bungie for saving me money.

My favorite is the Mindbender.

Lowly Dreg who learn how to make his own Throne World in the Ascendant Realm ala Hive God lmao.

As a starving, runty little Dreg, the Mindbender fell into the Moon's Hellmouth. He's never spoken an intelligible word since. But his time in the Hive's domain changed him, gave him a life-long obsession. After years of study, he found a way to carve a throne-world of his own from the Ascendant Realm.

Man....this game. Finally getting it right. (Though I like the direction Warmind went in)
$60 = another 300+ hours of playing

It took this long to have a motorcycle boss fight? They should really introduce more vehicle mechanics so they can have more diversity to work with.

They killed off Cayde-6? Seriously? What? Bungie making my decision to just drop D2 forever justified.

The most interesting thing about this expansion for me so far. I love all of the individual bosses with their own stories and personalities. The whole dynamic of just hunting down a gang of nefarious bad guys has always interested me, but now I'm getting that shit in Destiny.

Me when I get to this boss fight.

I would hope that having 8 bosses(9 with Uldren?) would make the campaign longer but I imagine that they'll lock most of them behind the raid. Maybe a few in some strikes.

Btw the sparrow boss is hilarious. They've really hit the bottom of the barrel when it comes to reskinning and resizing average enemies into bosses.

I was going to buy it before this, because hell yeah I'm still having fun with D2 after all. But this is great, really looking forward to the "real" D2.

Sound really fun, and I'm happy they are making some positive changes to accommodate what the majority of the payer base wants... I'm tempted to hop back in but it's a hard pass for me. Went through Y1 and experienced all the DLC, I feel like I got my moneys worth but the game just isn't for me anymore.

Will watch from a distance.

You don't go to the end game area until you defeat these guys.

Ok cool. Have they said anything about the raid as far as story goes? Uldren as the boss I'm guessing?

Word of a "dragon" has suggested we'll finally be facing an Ahamkara. If there was ever a raid boss, that one fits the bill. I'd like to think Uldren will be the final boss in the campaign.

If we're getting a campaign mission for each baron, that's pretty good to me.

They should have kept Cayde's death a surprise, I don't know why they spoiled it.

They announced it beforehand so I assume there will be more to it. My hope is that "he" is back in one form or another by the end of Forsaken.

I have a hard time believing they would kill off their literal only marketable character int he franchise. Not that it doesn't have other good characters. but Cayde is the face. Fans were annoyed that Destiny 2 was too lighthearted and corny -- and at least wanted Cayde to feel more like he did during The Taken King, which had a perfect balance of humor and drama. That doesn't mean kill the guy off to go "dark" again.

I'll be very annoyed if they are legitimately killing him off for good. That's a bad decision for shock value. It's much more interesting if we get to see Cayde grow and change from his death-experience.

Plus, the entire basis of his death is incredibly flawed and hurts the lore for me. You're telling me you can just shoot someone's Ghost and then kill the Guardian and they're dead forever? Honestly, that's ridiculously silly and I'm someone who can "turn off" their brain for silly sci-fi stories. Guardians would be perma-killed all the time if that were the case.

That does happen in the lore already. For instance Petra was demoted because a bombing run by the awoken killed 9 guardians and blew up their ghosts. Osiris's ghost in CoO got hit by a single vex blast and nearly died, and had to be repaired. In the first destiny story we find someone who died on the moon, and we find dead ghosts littered everywhere.

Cayde is not coming back. So funny to see people hanging on to that. The dragon being the raid boss is a wish with no evidence to support it. I'm putting money on Savathun heralding her arrival in the raid. The Dreaming City will have tons of taken and hive in it.

Think it would be kind of lame to get another Hive/Taken raid when the one from the last $40 expansion was exactly that. But fighting a space dragon in my sci-fi fantasy where I can shoot it with a gun is the bee's knees.

I kind just glanced at a couple of gifs and scrolled down. IMO, spoiling the baron mechanics for myself will take some fun out of the encounters. (Though I'm not sure I'll buy Forsaken at launch or at all right now.)

I want to like this franchise, but my experience with online AAA gaming has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Bungie knows how to make things look fascinating, but things feel a bit... shallow when you get your hands on it. After the campaign I tend to peter out. PVP at least can be engaging with close friends, but I was never good at raids. My gaming reflexes are getting worse when performance anxiety kicks in, so I shy away from raids for the most part.

Maybe if PoE comes back in a way, with matchmaking I'd be down for that.

Lol, it would have been spoilt by an assortment of views-hungry streamer douchebags.

Remember GOW?

Streamers turned youtube into a fucking minefield.

Better to get ahead of it and milk it for marketing purposes.

But glad Bungie are taking notes from classic metal gear to have fleshed out baddies with personalities.

I think it would be weird to have the hive worm be a meh story ending boss that you kill rather easily and then have an ahamkara be a raid boss that is insanely hard...

But bungie ran out of ideas a long time ago so dragon ver 2 but different this time! Sounds right up their alley.

i'm out at this point. i was so fucking obsessed with D1 for so long, but no matter how many things they try to fix and how often they update, every time i load into D2 i just cant stick to it for more than 20 minutes or so. putting aside the time to kill stuff, the slow speed, etc - there are just so many little things i don't like about the gameplay loops in comparison to the first game... and yes they're apparently going to fix a lot of those, but I think its too little too late, especially when they want to sell me a new season pass.

i think another reason is that i used to be into the collecting aspect, really grinding for full grimoire etc, but now so much loot is eververse based, and a lot of the rest is time limited/season based - and when i have so little joy in grinding to get that eververse + season stuff, it feels like there's no point even trying to collect anything. i guess its a little like collectible card games and action figure lines, a lot of people collect to be able to get everything, but if you change things to make it impossible to do so, you get a major drop off in desire to even bother.

unfocused minirant over.

i wish i still wanted to play this game. but nothing makes me want to load it up anymore :-(

Although I get my money's worth in playtime, I may do this as well. Too many other games and school will take my time away.

Man, how did a developer known for such a diverse range of vehicle combat suck so hard at it when it came to Destiny?

Tbh that's a fair point becaus vehicles have always been trash in D1/D2, but I actually think The Rider looks like it'll be an interesting encounter. Something a little different than shooting a boss in an open room.

Love the Hive Baron, Rider Baron, and The Hangman. Can't wait to fight these dudes. Wondering who the new strikes will feature if all eight barons are part of story missions.
