The funny thing is even after he wasted everyone time harassing her(and was proven to be wrong), I feel like if he would have apologized, she probably would not have even posted the video and he would have kept his job. But no, he chose to die on that hill. It shows how little respect he had for her.

At least the police handled that situation well enough. I like how these racists think they're doing some act of justice, but the moment the police enter the scene they shrink and become evasive.

I have to ask these people: is it worth it to do this to minorities? From my understanding, this idiot lost his job becusse of something so... unnecessary.

Was it worth it?

They do this shit all the time. My family used to get cops called on us consistently by one of our racist neighbors back when I was a kid.

They're just acting like usual. It's just that now people are confronting their bullshit.

For every one person that gets called out for this shit, there's probably 9 others who get away with it.

Seriously, why do racist keep doing this when almost everytime it hits social media they get ****ed? Like you would think stuff like this isn't worth the risk and that they would see the examples already of people who pulled this crap.

Sometimes it "works". Meaning the black person is harassed, removed, arrested, or even killed by the police. While the caller suffers no consequences.

Surprised he lost his job, good for the company.

For how awful social media in general is and the problems that smart phones have introducted into our society in such a short time, the ability of most of the general public to start recording and then upload directly to the internet, incidents of racism, police brutality and general awfulness is an amazing thing. As long as we keep publically shaming these people and they keep losing their jobs, you will have to see a reduction in this behavior in the public sphere.

Been on there since 1964.

Went to see the Mr Rogers documentary last night and they played a clip of a news report from this incident that framed the actions of the hotel manager as almost necessary and heroic. It was really interesting to see something (almost) universally acknowledged as horrific today in the context it would have been widely presented to the mainstream with back then.

It really, really clearly shows how time changes the way people present and even acknowledge history. Now this kind of thing seems to almost be framed as outliers, just a few radical and extreme white people, when it's obvious it was the mainstream and accepted kinds of behavior. People really want to pretend racism was an aberration and that it's gone.

Now think of Sinclair and how they are forcing state propaganda into their news reporters hands and telling them to report on it as if it is the news of the day. This is still being done. Broadcast news stations report the news with the opinion of whomever owns the station, regardless of what the truth is. There are still tons of yokels who get their news from their local broadcast station, and when they air things like this it's just the same thing as back then. White racists broadcasting racist opinions to more white racists.

"Oh but I'm not racist. Those people, they're different. But not me, I'm not racist...I just don't want these god damn darkies in my pool!"

Some white people would rather be destitute and starving than peacefully interact with people of color. And they will be.

People call for some real nonsense at times. I got called to McDonalds for the exact same thing!!! I told the man straight up, "sir, this is a civil dispute. If you're already talked to the manager, and aren't satisfied, you'll need to to file a case in small claims court and sue McDonalds, have a nice day".

All these racist asswipes treat police as their personal security guard. Just the way this dipshit was talking to the cops ignoring the victim as if he's in charge. Take your stupid shades off and look me in the eye chickenshit motherfucker.

Wow, really? How did the person react? I just can't imagine using an emergency number for something so trivial.

"That's good enough for me today." I almost broke my monitor off that line.

I don't generally revel in the misfortune of others, even when they bring said misfortune upon themselves with their own stupidity. In the case of racist douche bags though, it really is satisfying to see them pay, in real terms for their ignorance. Losing his positions with HOA and his job forces him to deal with his actions.

Sadly I'd guess that rather than learn from this, it will just make him double-down on his racism. Obviously I don't know this for a fact, but I'd guess he would be likelier to blame everyone else for getting him fired, rather than looking internally and realizing his own mistakes.

You would think by now these people would see a phone aimed right at their face and know what happens next.

Yet their racism literally blinds them. Not realizing in the moment their are about to lose their jobs and have their faces plastered over social media.

What an asshole. At THE VERY LEAST he should have apologized profusely. But of course he never should have called the police.

This is especially interesting to me because I hold the EXACT same roles that he does for my neighborhood. Residents show their card to the lifeguard upon entering, and that's that. If they have a damn card they're a resident or guest.

Or worst case, someone *gasp* sneaks in and enjoys a cool swim. Not a big deal in my book. Obviously could lead to problems if it happens too much but if people are being cool and not causing any problems I generally don't care.

Poor lady. How dehumanizing.

Lot of white people calling police on black people for mundane shit lately.

Pretty peculiar.

Wonder why that is.

Lately ?lol
Has been happening for ages....it's just easier to expose them in the digital age.

Almost every time ? Nah that's not how it works...stuff like this happens all the time, but only once every 20 times it gets reported it big enough for the news.

Wait there were "whites only" places in America in *1964*??? What the fuck.

It is insane to think that it was not really that long ago... and while I think in many respects we have come a long ways we have so far to go. At least we have people like this jack ass in this story getting fired for their actions... in the past that might not have happened. So while it is beyond me that someone .... anyone has to go through this at least there are harsh penalties when you act like a fucking racist prick.

High on privilege more and more i am so happy that phones have viable cameras. Documentation of this stuff allows us to call it out everwhere and make these people slowly start to think twice about their actions.
