"Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" has officially joined the billion-dollar club.

The fifth film in the "Jurassic" franchise hit $1 billion at the global box office, making it the 35th movie to reach that milestone. "Fallen Kingdom" joins its predecessor, 2015's "Jurassic World," which ended its theatrical run with $1.7 billion. In North America, "Fallen Kingdom" has pocketed $304.8 million and $700.7 million from international territories. Universal, the studio behind the film, now has released seven billion-dollar grossing movies.

Prior to "Fallen Kingdom," "Jurassic World" marked the first "Jurassic" title in over a decade. The blockbuster launched domestically with a staggering $208.8 million and went on earn $1.7 billion worldwide. It is still the fifth-highest grossing film ever at the North American box office.

Universal now has the seventh and eighth-biggest franchises of all-time, with "Fast & Furious" and "Jurassic World," which have grossed $5.1 billion and $4.7 billion, respectively.

I thought it was pretty entertaining, but the plot was really, really dumb. Just don't try to think too much or expect logic. It's really a setup for the next movie, which hopefully will be a lot better.

Yep, Dino's still do well in theaters and Colin Trevorrow is a hugely successful director more than not.

We live in a strange world.

2/3 of the movie taking place in a big house was weird.

I thought the action was fun/entertaining but overall dumb movie. I think I liked it better than JW1.

Cool now spend the money and get some new writers for JW3, because after JW2 I'm not willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Wish I could say well deserved

Ditto.

Trevorrow is such a hack writer between this stupid script amd the last one where everyone acts like a moron so the plot could keep happening. These have been really lowbrow scripts that are treated like high art for some reason, but they make a truly impressive amount of money so none of my criticism matters.

I'd love to see an R-Rated version of this film with them going full Resident Evil in the house.

Bring back Jake Johnson for JW3. Only interesting part of JW1 besides brutal shock of how that innocent assistant was murdered by those pterodactyls. I'm still shook by how out of place that scene was.

I remember some users on this site downplaying this movie, and once again thinking it won't do well in the box office.

People just love to try and downplay this franchise. GOAT franchise.

Jurassic movies are going to replace Bay's Transformers, aren't they?

And you know, I'm fine with that.
