Then the Obi Wan movie is a rom com
Then the Obi Wan movie is a rom com
Nope, it was said they were on a different mission at the time of TLJ
They didn't need to say it.
Sad this took 8 posts. Comon people, shes the right age and looks to be Daisy Ridleys mom.
To be honest, while I don't think they'll actually do it... is there really anything to stop them from changing Rey's background? Yeah, so Kylo says that they were nobodies and Rey believes him. So what? He might not know, he could be lying to fuck with & manipulate her - he's a dick. That's established. JJ can basically write what he wants, and he could totally revert to his Ep 9 original plan for Rey if he wants her to be a Kenobi or whatever. Nothing in TLJ sets that in stone, and if TLJ is anything it's a demonstration that you don't have to take everything from the previous movie as gospel. Like, what happened with Luke is not something you can change, but Rey's parentage is just a couple of lines and nothing firm at all.
It's probably in LF's best interest not to stomp all over Johnson's story while he's still working for them. And also to not discourage other filmmakers from ever bothering with a fickle company who will cave on their story choices as soon as the Internet pissbabies start crying. To be honest, while I don't think they'll actually do it... is there really anything to stop them from changing Rey's background? Whether they needed to say it or not is irrelevant.

eeeeyup
She's the best, but both mainline directors have had a problem with hiring incredible talent, and giving them nothing to do
I'm still mad
I remember this shot looking incredible in the trailer. Couldn't wait to see these guys pop up. God damn it JJ.
They better be the final boss
,Opening scene is everything up until Finn wakes up from his comma. Turns out 8 was just a comma dream.
You need to give this up. Her parents are dead. In TFA, Maz tells Rey that her parents are never coming back. In TLJ, it's Rey who says they were nobody before Kylo confirms this. For some odd reason, there is this common misconception that Kylo says they are nobodies first. That didn't happen. The two movies clearly establish that Rey has always known about her parents but lied to herself to keep her from facing the truth. NOTHING in the two movies indicates that her parents are anything special. I wish this would just stop being a thing.

"We don't know who they are" != "They're important people"
You filling in the blank on your own isn't the movie's fault.
Then why the fuck is the connection between her and Kylo so damn strong that they can have force Skype sessions?
Rey says it, not Kylo.Yeah, so Kylo says that they were nobodies and Rey believes him. So what?
You'd think TLJ would've snapped people out of it but there are still articles getting written about the identity of broom boy....To be fair it's kind of a Star Wars trope. Blood lines lineage etc.
So it's easy to see how people would go there.
Luke: "How did my father die?"I'll say it again, if JJ backtracks on Rey's lineage it will expose him as the biggest hack fraud in the industry. As to this casting, I'm indifferent. Though I am tired of every major female in the franchise being a white brunette, Rose being the one exception. Stop talking about diversity and show some receipts you frauds.

You think J.J. Abrams gives a single shit about that? We entering Retcon City

How are the Knights of Ren a "throwaway line to sell toys" They didn't make any toys of them. The knights of Ren is a throw away line to sell toys. How are they going to add like 5+ force users to the bad guys when they are already heavily winning?
Shrug, guess we'll find out in the next movie whether or not that's true.Whether they needed to say it or not is irrelevant.
"We don't know who they are" != "They're important people"

John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Donald Glover, Lupita Nyong'o (a bit of a cheat), Oscar Isaac, Bencio Del Toro, Donnie Yen, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Wen Jiang, Riz Ahmed, Thandie Newton.
There has been diversity in the casts of the new movies so far, especially when compared to the OT and PT. You can talk about diversity, cast diverse actors and still hire white actors. The fact that the lead of the entire trilogy is a female was also a big step.
If you want to go back and watch the OT it still exists. This is supposed to be a sequel trilogy not remake trilogy.Luke: "How did my father die?"
Ben: "A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights. He betrayed and murdered your father."
Yeah, this isn't that hard. She knows who they are, the whole time.
There's no real reason for Kylo to lie about it, Rey acknowledges it's something she already felt herself but did not want to accept, it's implied in the cave mirror scene on Ach-To, and it's foreshadowed by Maz in TFA. Plus the whole larger part of the movie's message about how the Force doesn't just belong to an exclusive club of religious orders and famous bloodlines. To be honest, while I don't think they'll actually do it... is there really anything to stop them from changing Rey's background? Did you even watch the movie? Good lord. Then why the fuck is the connection between her and Kylo so damn strong that they can have force Skype sessions?
You are forgetting about the being dead in a paupers grave partRey:who are you?
Keri:I'm your mother Rey.
Rey:where have you been?
Keri:nothing, I'm a nobody. Got some spare change?
There were in a bunch of different forms. How are the Knights of Ren a "throwaway line to sell toys" They didn't make any toys of them.
