Fjord does not have a disability, or impediment to his character, as it was portrayed throughout the fight with the construct, and if it was my character that I entrusted someone to curate for me while I was gone, I would feel a tad disrespected at the increasing caricaturization that I put effort into creating for the show. I know they're friends, but you gotta have some sort of tact when broadcasting your games live.

It was getting uncomfortably so- and she wasn't alone in it too btw. I'm glad that their characters would be shelved for now, instead of in someone else's hands at the moment.

I don't think anyone meant for their impressions of Fjord or Jester to be offensive to any particular group. However, I was offended by how bad everyone's impressions of them were. I was shook.
I thought Matt's Fjord was pretty good. His Jester though...woof. Liam does a pretty good Jester, I think Ashley too. As for Marisha, she tried to turn Fjord's Texas twang into Floridian redneck, and it was a bad joke that just went on and on and on.
And we don't think that the group will pay it back if they really had a problem with it? They've been helping each other out with things left, right and center.
Ah things like that often happen at the table, it's the expected 'hehehe look what we did while you were away' joke. A bit like shaving a friend's eyebrows when the fall asleep at a party.
Sometimes the show can be very aggravating with a whole bunch of poor spell/attack selection leading to a near TPK. Of course under pressure, players wont be using the most optimal spells and Critical Role has never about min max gameplay. But episode 88 the Water Ashari episode was especially frustrating.
Seemed like they weren't treating the Kraken as much of a threat for the first half of the battle... Grog (with low int) figured out to focus fire the tentacles of the Kraken to stop grappling/swallowing and of course they aren't supposed to kill the Kraken. But many attacks after that were still wasted on the Kraken when doing literally anything else would be much more helpful, and leaving those tentacles up nearly resulted in multiple deaths. Matt also got frustrated with Marisha when she wasn't doing anything about her 5 Hp left when there is constant lair lightning damage and tentacle action, lol. And why did she go whale form instead of a water elemental that can't be grappled, much higher hp, and high speed? It was a water trial for Keyleth, she should get familiar with water elemental options. Overall, it should have just been Keyelth in water elemental form with locate object going, distracting the Kraken if discovered since she can outrun it, while Vex/Vax stealth along getting the lodestones, avoiding combat altogether. I wonder if Matt would have let that happen.

It was a huge mess. I was enjoying the total meltdown of a battle that it was for a good portion of it, but when everyone was becoming clearly frustrated as it went on, it lost some charm for sure. I'm fine with poor planning leading to a difficult battle, but that one dragged on for hours and they continued making bad moves throughout.
Now I have the difficult decision of doing stuff Thursday night or watching CR. Of course, all my panels end at 9pm, so I could essentially just watch the replay.

Didn't Percy end up abandoning the party (with their blessing) when things looked grim? That was one of the only fights where I really thought some of these characters weren't coming back alive.
It would be funny though if Fjord's "deity" turned out to be the Kraken they fought, who decided to use Fjord as a tool to take revenge on whoever in Vox Machina is still alive (there's got to be a couple right? at least Keyleth?)

Pretty much, but he and Tary were completely useless in that battle, and he realized he was just a liability that kept getting restrained by the tentacles.
If they had cast Freedom of Movement on the whole party beforehand, that battle would have been completely different. No getting restrained by tentacles, no decreased movement or disadvantage on attacks underwater. They had the tools, their preparation and strategy was just dreadful.
It's part of what made Keyleth's arc of "now you're ready to lead" ring hollow to me. I guess it was lucky nobody was observing her tactics or performance as leader, and they just cared about the result of getting the Kraken poop.
The reaction to that "30 day" comment makes me think Travis or Laura are coming back in a month. Or they've only booked Ashley for four weeks, at least. Probably the latter.
