Ant Man and the Wasp:
Michelle Pfeiffer looked incredible
Yeah, they're tech does seem to be getting better and better, especially when it's only used lightly.
Lawrence Fishbourne's de-aging looked great too, even if it was only a little bit used.
I just re-watched the first Captain America and the face-swapping they do for Steve pre-super-serum holds up pretty well (but I didn't notice the seams a little more here and there than I had previously).

Disney has a bit of a problem when they use it too much though, like the super rough face of Tarkin in Rouge One (Leia looked OK IMO, but only because it was only for a second and one line of dialog) and I wasn't a fan of young Johnny Depp in the most recent POTC movie (it just animated a bit oddly).

But since both Coulson and Fury have both held up very well over the years, I doubt they'll have to use too much effects so it will avoid the uncanny valley.

Young RDJ is just a weird looking dude. The tech worked just fine.

Makes sense that they would do this, but it's going to add some money to the film's budget.

Seriously, how did Homecoming step on AoS?

Don't get me wrong: I don't think they're going out of their way to make sure the movies don't screw with AoS. But AoS has been doing its own (fantastic) thing for a while now. And nothing in Homecoming stepped on AoS.

I mean, hell, the biggest thing Homecoming stepped on wasn't the TV shows in the MCU. It was the other films.

AoS is also one of the most internally consistent shows that exists alongside a massively larger cinematic universe. It's frankly quite amazing how they've managed to coordinate anything without any massive retcons.

Still waiting for old man face to kick in with Paul Rudd and Keanu Reeves.

They look way too good for their age.

I was looking at some of those leaked shots and figured they would do some magic to make them look a bit younger

I think the combo of hair and makeup, body doubles, and CGi have really taken their de-aging to new levels of believability and I've always felt Marvel has done a pretty good job at it, because the tech hasn't just been developed as as de-aging tech but it started by creating a believable Skinny Steve.

I'm on-board with them experimenting for a full film at this point because it could potentially mean a prequel Ant-Man and The Wasp film with Pym and Janet or creating characters like Thanos being fully CG but potentially more human looking characters like a buffed up Collossus or Juggernaut with human actors that are smaller in real-life but still come across as believable looking.

Not one mention of de-aged Kurt Russell in GoTG 2? It was amazing!

Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas were outstanding as well.

People questioning this due to Tarkin in Rogue One: Lucasfilm used their own software for that movie, and it's years behind Marvel.

That was seriously one of my favorite casting things of all time.
It literally made the entire movie with how well it worked.
Yep, it's one of the reasons I love MiB3. I think that movie gets a lot of undeserved hate. It was miles above MiB2

Personally, I had no issue with Tarkin. I can let things like that go, though, and it doesn't bother me.

Did it have something to do with the gap between the start of the film with Adrian's clean-up crew and the time skip to eight years later? I imagine that may have screwed up a lot of things right there.
That was already acknowledged as a mistake and retconned back to normal in IW anyway.

I always assumed the uncanny valley-esque nature of the Civil War dragged Tony was considered acceptable or by design since it was supposed to be a VR like tech.

Marvel don't do the visual effects. They hire a studio to do this work. In most cases they use Lola VFX which specialize in makeup touchups and now deaging.

And ILM are not behind Lola. Their techniques are actually more advanced. We will see if having actors helps ILM for the film The Irishmen, as they will be deaging Pacino, De Niro, Pesci, and more.

The only times it looked even sort of bad were brief shots of Kurt Russell in GotG2. Otherwise it's nearly flawless. Maybe we're just not used to it yet; maybe in ten years it'll look really bad.

That one looked really off, though. Super UV effect.

It really didn't, it looked plastic and fake as hell. Weird, botox face and no soul in the eyes.
I wonder if one's experience with the actual young RDJ helps this. I used to watch Chances Are and some other of his films all the time as a kid, so it hit me hard seeing that RDJ again. Looked amazing, imo.

Yep, he looked perfect. New Ant Man was perfect as well.
