that is besides Newegg and Amazon. I'd like to have more selection than just Amazon and Newegg just displayed to me why people said they are going downhill (and insist on using a crappy carrier that consistnatly reviews at one star, OnTrac).

I'm in Washington so no microcenter here (do they do any web business and if so are they any good at it?).

Newegg and Amazon traditionally.

Tried Microcenter with my last computer and that worked out just fine. They do shipping, yes, and I had no problems. Bought a motherboard, CPU, and RAM from them. The rest I bought from Amazon.

Camera stores like B&H and Adorama have smaller selection of core components, but they have all the basics.

I'm 90% Newegg and Amazon, the rest is either directly from evga, from tigerdirect, best buy, ebay, and B&H.

Window shop on Newegg, buy on Amazon for the free shipping.

Just take the EXACT part number from Newegg and plug it in on Amazon, making sure the seller is actually Amazon.com and not some fulfilled by or 3rd party bs.

Got my parts from Newegg but they used Fedex and UPS when I shopped there (who were also slow as fuck).

You basically eliminated all the stores that I use(Amazon, Newegg, and MicroCenter). Do you have a Fry's? Believe it or not, some Best Buy's now have a variety of PC parts as well. I saw some at one of the Best Buy's here in Southern California.

Superbiiz and OutletPC are some other good sites. If I need a part immediately, there's a Microcenter about 45 minutes from my house (and sometimes they have really great deals. I got a 4790k and ASRock Z97 Extreme4 for super cheap a few years ago).

I used to use TigerDirect a lot, but haven't even bothered looking at the site in five years. They really went downhill when Circuit City filed for bankruptcy.

Microcenter is pretty good. If you're lucky your local Best Buy might have a newer graphics card.

I have Microcenter about ten minutes from where I live that I go to all the time.

That doesn't really leave much else. All my parts I get from Newegg, and maybe one or two from Amazon. Maybe it's just a local thing, because I didn't have any issues with Newegg when I ordered parts for my newest build late last year.

Other than them I used physical stores for things I needed immediately, but my options are limited to Best Buy now since CompUSA/Tigerdirect is gone from the retail space. If you have a Fry's near you that would be the only other place I would suggest.

Built most of my last one at Microcenter in ohio as well. But my next one will likely be lots of stuff from Fry's, assuming they price match!

For those based in the UK, I tend to use Scan.co.uk, Aria.co.uk and ebuyer.com for my PC parts, alongside amazon of course.

I used to use Newegg, but they are terrible now. I'm never buying from them again.

I used to trust Newegg, but I haven't used them recently.

Amazon, make sure is sold by amazon, for returns.

Or I'll just buy from the manufacturer's site, I trust NZXT and EVGA. EVGA's returns policy is great.

Got my parts from Newegg but they used Fedex and UPS when I shopped there (who were also slow as fuck).

Ok. So Ontrack claimed it would come Tuesday. Their tracking said it was in my city. Then for some inexplicable reason they sent it to their corporate in Arizona (in in Washington). Yesterday that's still the only update I had. Other than Newegg claiming it would come yesterday. Today was the first day ontrack updated the tracking and it says it will arrive July 5 (yesterday) by 12 am, I guess they have time travel abilities. I call Newegg and they tell me they might run into some I explicable issue (for the third time I guess?) and that it might be Monday. It was supposed to be three days shipping, I ordered it Friday. Newegg tells me on track considers this the third day. Ok, taking away weekend and not counting last Friday or July 4, this is still the fourth business day. Newegg and ontrack can't count.

I'm not a huge fan of ups but they've never been this late (one time around Christmas, busy as shit time of year for them they were a day late).

It's not even being as slow as fuck, they can't even keep their promises. At this point I have no idea how long it will get here and obviously ontrack can't be relied on to know when it gets here. They keep not delivering it when they say they are going to so I don't believe a word they tell me. I wouldn't be surprised Monday comes around and passes and it is still not here. And look up reviews on ontrack, they make ups and FedEx look premium.

Personally I prefer usps. If they had just used usps for their cheap rate I bet it would be here by now. Usps seems to get things to me that come from this side of the country within a few days (and the item came from California). If it is in the same state it tends to be here next day no Matter how cheap shipping they use. Shoot, usps would have had something coming from across the country to me by at least Saturday if not today.

When I built mine, I went to microcenter. Dude even price checked everything online to get me the cheapest prices without me even asking

Oh yeah, and Amazon has spoiled me. They at least would have compensated me something for my troubles or tried to find a way to fix it (like cancel the order and put in a new one with overnight shippimg). Newegg just told me they (or ontrack or maybe both) considered this the third day so call back tomorrow (for another hour plus long wait plus however long the phone call takes) if it doesn't and maybe they can cancel that one and maybe I can request some other shipper other than ontrack. Gee, thanks for nothing Newegg and you and ontrack need to learn to count.

Yeah I almost always got my shit late from them. I think more a newegg issue than the provider because I order things from walmart/target and get my shit on time regardless of UPS/USPS/Fedex.

Fedex likes to give me weather exceptions for bizarre reasons though.

Wait are they saying it's out for delivery and then not delivering? Because yeah that's obscene if so.

USPS is godlike for the price though. I've only had an issue with them twice and honestly with how low price the shipping is in comparison it wasn't that big of a deal. If you paid for the shipping though I'd try to get a store credit or something if it's really late.

I use PCPartPicker and buy stuff wherever it is cheapest. Or Microcenter, since it's not listed on there. Also, eBay is supremely underrated as a place for PC parts. They often have deals like $10-$25 off or even 10-25% off coupons which make for insane prices.

I don't know why more companies don't just use usps. They're cheaper than FedEx and ups and to be fair maybe ontrack is cheaper but they better be for how shitty they are. Put it this way, my story is mild compared to most reviews for ontrack. They have hundreds of reviews on yelp and are one star rated. All the reviews save one on the first page of reviews are one star with many saying they wish they could give it no stars. If you look at their track record it's amazing they stay in business. Apparently Amazon also uses them but one review said they are using them less and less each year.

I'm just hoping the product isn't damaged or they lie and claim delivered when it wasn't or they don't leave it out in the driveway where it's easy for theives to see it (all complaints I read about them and it wasn't just one time complaints but they seem to have a track record for kind of stuff).

I'm on a custom loop so a lot of my stuff is from less known places but they carry parts every kind of build:

Modmymods.com
performance-pcs.com
Frozencpu.com

And of course Amazon plus there's a MicroCenter close to me so occasionally from there.

My last PC refresh was in 2016 and I opted to take a trip to Microcenter rather than order the parts online. It was pretty refreshing picking/choosing all my parts at a B&M store and I think the price premium overall was less than $100.

Before that, I did a complete PC build back in 2011 and I still have spare parts from all my online orders still sitting in a tupperware bin, so I haven't ordered new PC parts online in years. Back then, I ordered my parts from Newegg/Amazon, though IMO Newegg seems to have gone downhill a bit since then.

One place I recommend checking out is FrozenCPU: http://www.frozencpu.com/ I ordered from them back in 2012/2013 when I was outfitting my PC case with sound dampening foam and low speed fans. They'll customize products you order like sleeving the wiring, etc. It's been awhile since I bought anything from them, so YMMV, but I was always pleased with their service.

I've mostly brought used from ebay, gumtree and the like whenever I'm buying an internal drive, RAM or a new GPU etc., cheaper than buying new and haven't really had any problems. Was looking at building a new PC as it's been almost 10 years since I built mine, the core has stayed the same but I've upgraded the GPU and RAM over time, but I'm waiting a little bit as the price difference between new and used isn't big enough yet, once the price difference is enough for me I'll most likely end up buying the used parts.

Damn, I don't know once you take out Newegg and Amazon. In fact, I don't even use Newegg anymore since they got bought out and their service shit the bed. I"ve never had an issue with Amazon, though, so I haven't really looked elsewhere.

I live in NZ so I can't really get anything from amazon or newegg. Down here we have sites like Mightyape and PBTech. I just ordered in a Deepcool Tesseract case for my first build. Next up is a PSU, then a motherboard, then a CPU, then RAM... I'm salvaging everything else from my current PC.

Newegg and Amazon. But it's been 6 years since my last build. I tend to upgrade GPUs with amazon because I get flagship (not titan tho) and newegg usually trips idtheft on my CC with items that expensive on newegg.
