How'd they find a way to make vegetables unhealthy?

I'm a pretty fat guy but when you order "green beans" off the menu and it comes in a bowl of gravy with bacon bits and your salad is swimming in dressing with Parmesan on top. I just wonder how people eat this on the regular. It's like someone made a whole restaurant based on the KFC Double Down. I don't mean to just throw shade at the establishment. I'm just fascinated by its choices.

What's Era's views on these types of restaurants? What have your experiences been like with them?

I feel like it wasn't as bad as the buffet style restaurants I've see advertised and heard horror stories of. But, the light queasiness in my stomach makes me fear my next bowel movement.

You're going to a steakhouse nothing on the menu is going to be healthy.

There's a steakhouse in London UK (I can't remember the name).

They serve the steaks on hot stones so it cooks in front of you and you can eat it as you like.

All the veg is steamed, super healthy, and it compliments the steak far better than the nightmare OP presented us with.

horrible "family steakhouse". come for the peanuts on the floor, stay for the screaming and sneezing kids.

edit: there are good steak places, and I guess if you find one that isn't in a suburban family zone, it may be different experiences. Or if youre a minority you may not even make it to a table. So

There's a local one less than 3 minutes from my family's house in FL. They wouldn't seat them at a table even after waiting. Never even bothered to respond to them once they entered the restaurant.

Sooooo.... I can't even tell you how the food is but it sounds like a mess based on your experience.

Sometimes I think I'm unhealthy for eating McDonalds a few times a month, and then I remember that my entire family basically never eats like places like this anymore and I'm so so thankful we don't

It's not horrible one of the better chain steakhouses you can go to.
Mortons, RuthsChris, I can think of a bunch of regional chains that aren't national that are better. Even Outback is better in my experience.

They may play the economics game well, but as far as being a great dining experience or a fine restaurant, that's debatable.

Not a fan. Few times I've been there the food is mediocre and swarming with extra calories, and they can't mix a drink worth a damn.

Hate the atmosphere of the place, too.

I'm on my second drink. This steak is alright, my baked potato is not bad. This could be worse.

YEEHAW!

The dreaded scream pierces my consciousness. I turn to see many dyed blonde hair women employees form a line. Invisible strings pull as their limbs as they form their rictus grins. I turn to see the Trump voters squeal with delight as these poor people are paid below minimum wage to dance for them. Donned with the slogan "I love my job," they shuffle. Their every movement is barely concealed pain. I can feel their White Jesus stare intently above, waiting for a single failure in their choreography. My shame knows no end as I decide to continue to eat my food, fearing that their savior is surely real and will punish me if I don't.

The drunken song designed to advertise the place I am currently in begins to play. Any dignity I once had is removed by proxy, and I know I am truly worthless.

Are you there with op?

Places
Meh, it's not very good. And yeah their sides are just bitter and sugar with flavor variations.

I either grill steak at home or go all out at estancia/fogo and get delicious rare meats.

I actually like Texas Roadhouse for a chain, especially for the cheap price (you can get a sirloin+ sides for $8).

And their menu online lists the green beans as 70 calories, so I don't know what you ordered to get gravy on them. A little bit of bacon is common as green bean seasoning.

A caesar salad isn't particularly healthy as a side salad.

For a chain restaurant, they usually do a good job not overcooking a steak. They add too much salt though.

One time at the roadhouse, my entire table's food came out except for mine. Manager came over and was really bending over backwards to make me happy.

I walked out of that place NOT paying for TWO chicken fried steak dinners, because the manager comped my dinner and the OG order showed up 3 mins later, and then 10 mins after that the order the manager fired showed up.

I ate CFS for three days, with loaded mashed taters and a nice side salad lol

They give you way too much food for the $$$, every time I've eaten there since I walk away with at least a pound of food.

Fucking lawl, you can't just shoehorn these in with Texas Roadhouse. TR is basically the Hooters of steakhouses. Fun, country atmosphere with decent steak for the money

I'm in your fucking restaurant already, STOP PLAYING YOUR COMMERCIAL AHHHH

I'm reminded of the Midwest hardware store Menards, whose catchy commercial jingle also plays in their store often. I once asked an employee if they repeated it in their sleep, as a joke. He locked his eyes into mine to the point where I could see his soul and he murmured, "You don't even know."

For all that added junk they taste terrible too. I used to work at a steakhouse with the peanuts and it definitely sucked to sweep every night.

two of those are debatable, but they do have a country atmosphere.

and cute waitresses. oh. I see.

but the man did say "one of the better steak houses in America", not Hooters of steaks.

O'Charleys is way better OP. Classier setting, comes with rolls with cinnamon butter, vegetables are treated tastefully instead of this Guy Fieri hodgepodge you presented

I miss Texas Roadhouse. The rolls and Rattlesnake bites were amazing, and the steak was pretty good too.

Always order dressing on the side.
Always.
