I wonder if we get all the snap deaths reversed before the final fight with Thanos. That'd be pretty cool

And that pisses me off, we saw the new crew with the Avengers but Hope is getting denied, that's what bakes my beans.

Meh.

She may not get much more than a cameo in A4, but she'll be a force on the team going forward.

But we're gonna get that one shot of every hero squaded up. I know it. It's too important and iconic a moment to pass up.

Count on it.

Meh? Meh you! I do hope a A Force movie comes but I dunno these days. She'll will likely be part of that crowd shot though but man, that's gonna take like 20 seconds?

Someone said in one of the interviews that there's one shot where literally almost every single main character is in the same frame, so that definitely sounds like a post-reversal moment, hopefully they're all facing down Thanos.

Anyone else find it weird Scott and Hope somehow had no idea the Avengers were warring with alien invaders at the end when they were chilling and doing experiments on the roof during the credit scene? It wasn't exactly a secret, the initial NYC fight and the battle in Wakanda were all over the news.

The alien ship was in New York and Antman was at the opposite end of the country. The ship wasn't on Earth that long before Strange was captured and it left.
I don't think the Wakanda battle was being transmitted live on the news or anything like that and the Avengers seemed to think Scott was under house arrest. I'm guessing very little time takes place between the end of this movie on that.

Saw it tonight and had a great time. It has some annoying pacing issues -- mainly the tired back and forth with the lab, and Goggins's character and his goons seem like they only exist to pad the run time.

Other than that, a really solid movie.

So did the gantlet spare Scott, or was it unable to get him cause he was subatomic?

Also I'd kill for a Paul Rudd action figure
You mean this amazing one?

Goggins needed an ace in the hole to make his involvement in the movie more worthwhile. Calling in an asset would have been a good excuse to have another C-string villain from the comics in the film.

Hell, they should have called in Whirlwind!

It was on the news in SHIELD.

We already know for a fact he teams up with the OG Avengers and Carol in A4. Where've you been?

Uh they literally set this up for him being a crucial part of A4. The quantum healing and Jane telling him to stay away from the time vortexes we're pretty on the nose. Not sure how you could have gotten anything other out of that unless you weren't paying attention

He's one of the main characters in A4 lol

Wasp is out.

This is all good news. I've been avoiding most production and spoilers threads for these movies since we're heading into the final stretch here. I'm willing to make an exception for Ant-man since it's one of my personal favorites.

I have to go back quite a way to find a Marvel movie I enjoyed as little as this one. Expected more after the praise. The nonstop techno-babble was excruciating. The script was an embarrassment. Really surprised at just how little I was entertained. Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas often bored with their roles. Walter Goggins' entire subplot was bizarre and accounted for an absurd amount of the runtime. Visually it felt unsurprising, mediocre even at its best. A huge departure from the last few Marvel flicks, which have pushed the visual envelope for superhero movies. This one's most creative sequences were retreads of the quantum realm from the first movie.

Ultimately it feels like one of those filler episodes that has become increasingly rare in the MCU, running alongside the Iron Man 2s and Dark Worlds of the franchise. At least it was a little more self-aware than Marvel's most dire stuff.

The more and more I think about it, I really do think we're going to get Avengers 4 happening in the future. They've got everything set up to deal with it pretty well.

Everyone's going to think Scott dissolved in the snap (probably just his family/coworkers, depending on who survived). Scott's going to find his way out of the quantum realm through one of the time vortexes he was warned about. He's totally set up to be the audience surrogate, as the Avengers will have to explain to him everything that's happened in the time since the snap.

I think it'll be a wise move, as they can jump right to the consequences of what happened without having to deal with the immediate aftermath of it.

Anyone else think this is the path they'll take?

I can see this happening. Time vortexes were mentioned for a reason.

I really loved this movie, a really good sequel that improves on the original in nearly every way. Fight scenes were really dope, Hope was such a gangsta! Nearly all the jokes landed for me.

Isn't time supposed to work differently in the Quantum Realm? Janet aged about the same as Hank. Is a minor thing, but it has been bothering me since i watched the movie yesterday.

Wakanda was on the news in SHIELD.

I don't think it's weird they didn't go and help (cause how would they get to Wakanda?); I think it's odd they didn't even seem to be bothered by it. Obviously, we could've just popped in after they had a convo about it and elected to let the Avengers handle it this time; it's just a nitpick.

So then when the black order came to Earth....what were they doing? Messing around in the lab?
I mean they are in San Francisco, on the other side of the country. The Earth attack was relatively quick.

Wakanda was on the news in SHIELD.

Its pretty clear the movies are ignoring everything on the TV side. In the movie they still talk about SHIELD was dismantled while it was already revamped and brought back to the public eye in AoS.

So, that post-credits scene...
Cassie is in the van and saves Scott, right? In Infinity War, I mean.

Speculation.

We know from behind the scene shots that there is a time jump, we've seen Tony with grey hair and it's been heavily rumored there's at least a 5 yr jump between the 2 Avengers movies. The same BTS shots feature Scott too and he looks exactly as he does in the movie. So, seems like he'll take one of the time portals Janet mentions and somehow come out 5 years later then helps Tony and co using the Quantum Realm energy he was collecting to time travel / dimension travel etc.

They are ignoring the TV side. But you're wrong about SHIELD being dismantled.

SHIELD has been dismantled twice in the MCU. The first time was after Winter Soldier. It then became an underground organization, secret to the public. This was seasons 2, 3 and about half of 4 of Agents of SHIELD. In the middle of season 4, they went public again (between Doctor Strange and Homecoming). However, by the time Homecoming released, it was dismantled a second time due to the events of the season 4 finale.

The entirty of the most recent season of AoS, season 5, takes place after they were dismantled. So when SHIELD is mentioned as being dismantled in Ant-Man, it has been (again) for about a year in the MCU.

If we want to get very specific, the fact that SHIELD still exists (illegally) is made public at the end of the season 5 finale when they rescue citizens in Chicago from Graviton. But if we're going to try and match up the time line as best as we can, that takes place after Ant-Man and the Wasp but within 24 hours of the snap. So a single SHIELD quinjet showing up in Chicago a day before half of the world's population disappears is likely going to be forgotten quickly.

Feel like I remember them mentioning aliens being spotted over Wakanda on a TV while Talbot name-dropped Thanos and the Avengers.

There was television footage of the aftermath of the Maw and Cull Obsidian attack on New York.

Also can we just take a moment to just... think about how we live in a world where ANT-MAN got a sequel and that Thanos is a house hold name? Like goddamn that is amazing.

Much better than the first and while I like Paul Rudd and find Scott to be likeable, I just don't think he's very funny and that's my biggest damper on the movie. I mean, I don't think he's awful but I like him more when he isn't overdoing his schtick.

I don't get some of the complaints in this thread TBH. I loved Goggins and the Janet plots.

Okay I might spring for this figure. I love that Disney is keeping the Disney Infinity designs alive through toys.

Bailed on Infinity before the Ant-Man figure was released so I never had the chance to get it.

Yo, is the button on Scott's suit at the first end credits not working? The button he pressed to get out of Quantum Realm in the first movie

I thought this was lovely, and fun, and heartwarming. I really like they continue the MCU theme that revenge isn't a worthwhile pursuit, that redemption and forgiveness are achievable and desirable goals. and that even doing the right thing often comes at a cost but you gotta do it anyway because it's the right thing and it's what heroes do.

I especially love that Scott has such a healthy relationship with his ex-wife and her new husband. Going to be a lot of kids growing up with two families who will appreciate being shown that it's not the end of the world if their parents divorce. I know superhero movies are getting better at being more inclusive and representative (though failing on LGBT front still) and this is a minor offshoot of that which I think may get overlooked.

I liked this as much, if not more, than the first. Solid 4/5 with so many lovely moments. Little exposition heavy on Ghost's origin, but I liked that it was a setup for a villain monologue which was interrupted by a Cassie 911 call. So I'll let that go.

My one absolute complaint is the final end credits scene is the single most disappointing one in the time I've been seeing these in the cinema, and I've been opening day MCU since Civil War. Just an ant playing the drums in a post-snap world? Wasn't funny at that point, or unique (we saw it on Hank's CCTV feed mid-film), and offered nothing to hint at the future events. It was wicked anti-climatic and sucked all the air out of the cinema and everyone who'd waited in my showing left without showing much enthusiasm. I laughed out loud at Ragnarok's "it's a tie", I enjoyed Cap's subtle trolling in Homecoming, Black Panther was alright because knowing Bucky is coming back set him up for Infinity War. Ringo Ant kinda sucked.

I recently watched the movie. I found quite refreshing that there wasn't a central evil villain so to speak. Since the very beginning it looked like Ghost wasn't going to fill that spot, and even Sonny, which was supposed to be the bad guy in the movie was a Saturday morning cartoon villain more than anything.

I feel a lot of people are going to say this is one of the most childish movies in the MCU, but I really liked it overall. Especially the dynamics between Scott and his family. I really liked how affectionate both his ex and her husband are towards him, and the daughter was a lot of fun too. It was really nice seeing such a heartwarming and healthy relationship between all of them, all things considered.

The jokes mostly landed on me, with Luis' running gag with the Truth Serum and the Ant-onio Banderas scene as some of the bright spot. I also enjoyed a lot the chase sequence.

The scene with the ant after the credits wasn't that good, all things considered.

I thought it works. The tone is dark once you noticed that the world went to shit and the implications that most of the people we knew died.

Could the Alien invasion from IW have destroyed communications, and that's why people in San Francisco down know all the shit that went down in N.Y.? Otherwise I'm confused why everybody was cracking jokes when the world is getting invaded.

This movie takes place a fair while before Infinity War. The most crossover you see really is the post credit sequence.

I don't think the New York stuff took all that long from start to finish. Ring showed up in the sky, 2 dudes came down and fought Iron Man, then left.. The Scarlet Witch/Vision stuff was at night and I don't remember there being all that much collateral damage. The real fight on Earth was in Wakanda, so it makes sense nobody knew what was happening.

And as mentioned above, after the events of Ant Man 2 there seems to be a decent gap, Hank & Janet go on a Holiday with their tiny house, and I'd imagine building a van-size Quantum Tunnel would take a bit of time, plus making a deal with the villain of the movie to gather energy to keep her alive, build the device to hold that energy,etc..

This movie was way fun and I'm happy everyone lived in the end, barring that mid-credits scene. Good humor and action scenes, and plenty of resizing hijinks like I wanted. Great supporting characters as well. Was that FBI guy fishing for a date at the end? I can almost hear the Tumblr artists drawing the fanart, lol.

I appreciate movies that show an alternative to labeling everyone good or evil and then framing the good guys in a favorable light as they dispense righteous punishment to the bad. That goes double when the type of story that's being told could easily slip into the deep grooves of convention that so many hundreds of other stories have followed by embracing binary morality like it's built into the fabric of the universe.

Some people do morally questionable things for good and justified reasons, relative to their personal situation. Understanding and the chance for redemption should be extended to people who act out in pain and desperation. The more of us who can internalize this basic idea in a time when human decency and empathy are under attack, the better.

Literally the biggest complaint I have about Ant Man and the Wasp is that the last credits scene was kinda weak. Not bad at all.

Janet with that wing sword is a cool fucking design.
Hell yeah it is. I want to see her kick ass in the next Avengers.

I believe that FBI guy was trying to make good with Scott Lang now that he's no longer under house arrest, like a brodate, but it came out all awkward for him.
