I am beyond disappointed that nobody's yet told OP "It's not for you, Jen."

I don't know why but this exchange always kills me:

Richmond: Oh, do you have any absinthe?

Jen: No.

Richmond: I only drink absinthe.

Jen: Absinthe, no. Red wine, white wine, Carlsberg…

Richmond: Oh, Carlsberg, perfect.

Try Toast Of London.
Other than that, maybe you just don't get on with some of our brand of humour...that's cool, I've never been able to understand the appeal of some the sitcoms we get from the other side of The Atlantic over here.

Frasier/Fawlty Towers are still the benchmarks though and PhoneShop is criminally underrated.

Yeah, stop watching it. I've had two girlfriends now that do not find British comedy funny. At all. They sit there looking at me weird because I think it's funny.
But with one of them the IT Crowd was the exception.

But I can't complain because I'm the same way with Arrested Development and Modern Family. Neither are funny and should not exist. Lol

Phone Shop is so great! I live in Sutton, so it's extra cool.

Peep Show is the King of British comedy but might not work for those not used to it. I recommended it to a friend from Norway once and they could only manage 5 minutes of the first episode before turning it off because of the (intentional) cringe value.

British Comedy takes some getting used to, but once it clicks you'll find yourself watching everything and hating that you have to watch shitty YouTube rips of Cats does Countdown because you don't live in the UK.

I loved it when I was younger, but watching it now... Doesn't hold up nearly as well. Part of it is the laugh track. Moments in it are still brilliant though. I laugh at the phone scene with the really long number for the police.

Though I'm rewatching Peep Show and that's held up for me.

IT Crowd is fun and great, I watched it and Father Ted and I liked both.

It introduced me to Richard Ayoade and I feel like I need more of his work in my life.

I was thinking that too but I'm into Fawlty Towers, Vicious, and a few other British shows that I can't remember at the moment, so I thought I'd be okay with The IT Crowd. Plus, a few of my friends were hyping it up a lot over the past few years.

How can you like Fawlty Towers and then think that IT Crowd is too cartoony? You never even finished the Work Outing episode so you didn't get to the best parts. That episode builds to perfect crescendo.

Always Sunny has just as many crazy situations and Arrested Development has just as much goofy humour like the loose seal and Bob Loblow.

Maybe you just didn't like the characters? Moss and Roy are hilarious to me.

I really love certain parts of this series. It's hilarious when it wants to be. The wheelchair episode and the ones where Jen haunts some guy were amazing.

The characters Moss and Roy are so naturally funny to me. I think I've seen each episode at least 50 times each. There's not that many episodes, unfortunately. I adore IT Crowd.

I could be wrong, but I think you have to somewhat enjoy British humor. It may even be an acquired taste. I think it may come off as cheesy to some. Have you seen any other British comedies, like Red Dwarf for example? Or movies like Shaun of the Dead / Hot Fuzz?

I wouldn't say "The Work Outing" is the best. It's good. I would say give "Friendface" a shot. If you don't like "Friendface", just call it a wrap for now. It's just not your thing.

IT Crowd is currently in my top five favorite sitcoms all time. In there with King of Queens, Seinfeld, The Office, and Wings.

I can't find a clip of it but my favourite part is the small cameo Denholm has in heaven with the Hitlergramme LOL

overall it's a good show when it concentrates on the cast being terrible people, but the nerd humour is the big bang theory level trash.

The last good canned laughter sitcom made in the UK was Black Books.

IT Crowd feels a bit too basic and try hard. I like Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade but everything I've seen of them in this show seems well beneath them.

Watched the whole series numerous times already, still makes me laugh hard.

The actors are exceptional and the kind of humor is right up my alley. Love all the characters, great chemistry between them.
So, so many quotes I still think of to this day.

The work outing episode is famous because it's one joke after another like a machine gun, things keep getting worse and worse by the minute. But most episodes are good, can't really think of a 'bad' one -maybe the special they filmed not too long ago, because something felt off, Jen in particular-

If you've watched the work outing and didn't fin it funny, just watch anything else, the it crowd is not for you

Sounds like you don't like that humour, so the shows not for you. Pretty simple.

I think it's one of the funniest shows of all time, up there with the young ones, the office, Blackadder, fawlty towers, etc.

IT Crowd and Dark Place are both amazing shows and both have Richard Ayoade, coincidence? I think not!
