Ok. It's not mine either, but there's a very clearly marketed "main" character for Skyrim and he'd be a cool choice.
Yeah, but the "main" Dragonborn is by far the most boring version. It's a muscular white dude in heavy armor with melee weapons. Ooh, haven't seen that in a fantasy game before.

If they bother with a 2nd Sonic character and it's Shadow instead of Tails or Knuckles, I'll riot.

It's definitely persuasive. My straw grasping argument is that Sakurai was only talking about Smash For rather than Ultimate when referring to Geno.

Geno never had a particularly good chance of becoming playable. He's a one-off Mario spinoff character that's not even owned by Nintendo. There's dozens of characters that have priority over him, and that's with Smash Ultimate giving him his biggest chance of getting in.

But I'm going to hold out hope until the end. He got a costume because of his popularity, Sakurai himself wanted to put him in, NoA's twitter brought up SMRPG out of nowhere for a mention, and Square's on board from the get go this time. I want to believe.

I'm not asking Geno fans to give up their job to support the character. Keep making a lot of noises about Geno and Sakurai will listen to those noises and potentially consider him in the future if anything. All I want is the fans to temper their expectations but still support the character all the way. It pains me to see many people acting like Geno will be in the game for sure thing because I know they will be so disappointed so much if Geno didn't even get in final roster (base roster).

I really hope that I'm wrong on those matters but I just have a feeling in general that other Square-Enix franchises are more likely to have their priority first like Dragon Quest, etc.

I really wonder what Daisy's overall gimmick is. Lucina has the balanced sword, Dark Pit has the different side b.

I also wonder what Shadow and Dark Samus' gimmicks would be if they got in.
Dark Samus would have phason effects replacing basically every effect/projectile visually. The question is just how far they'd go with the gameplay changes, but at least visually she'd stand out easily compared to the other Echoes.

Shadow would get a different running animation, but it's hard to think about any other gameplay or visual tweaks within the limit of an "Echo".

I'm not disagreeing, I just don't think it's an issue. There isn't another character in Smash with those traits at all. The helmet alone gives him a unique outline.

Slower, stronger sonic

That will probably be most of the echoes minus maybe chrom who might be a faster, weaker Ike.

Probably something about the down b. maybe her turnips have different rarities or knockback, or she pulls out carrots or something.

I wonder if they could re-use any of Dark Samus's assist trophy attack animations to give her some different attacks, or if that'd be too difficult.

Based on what they've said, Echoes can't even have a (big) distinction like that though. Overall main attributes have to be the same (likely to make balancing easier). It's why Dark Pit just has some tweaks to specific attacks, rather than a simple slow/stronger than Pit set up.

For sure, but it seems like such a waste compared to what we're capable of getting with a potential TES character.
I guess, but there's literally no one else in TES that makes as much sense, has a defined look, and is as popular and readily recognizable as the Dragonborn. I think if it did happen, it would be him.

God all we need is Dixie, K. Rool and Captain Toad and the roster will be nearly perfect.
You get one. Who do you choose?

Hard choice, I dunno, maybe Captain Toad or Dixie. Simply because they're the last two A-tier characters.

I get the feeling K. Rool will get in eventually, even if he's not in any modern games. Now that Ridley is in he's the most requested villain. In terms of play style though I imagine K. Rool will probably be the funnest to play as.

I'm not too sure. Square doesn't have much in the way of reps that are stupidly popular like Cloud or have Nintendo relevance. Given how much of a pain it apparently was just to get Cloud while the Geno costume was probably easy enough, Sakurai could cut his losses and just go with what he has for a second Square rep.

Seems unlikely with Pitto and Lucina having the same Speed, weight and whatever else like their originals.
I think attack properties is one of the things they can probably change, so I could see some of Shadow's attacks being slightly slower in favor of strength. Sonic's moves are extremely linear, so there's not a lot of ways you can change them, but I wouldn't be surprised to see echoes possibly get some changes in overall values. Characters like Dr. Mario probably get away from being treated as echoes because they straight up have different attacks altogether.

Dr Mario isn't an echo because he is universally stronger and slower than Mario. That requires more careful balancing (as in Smash 4, they just gave him equipment baked in and it made him a poor character). Dr Tornado and his down air play a small part but it's nothing compared to his stat changes. Still, I don't get why Mario puts on a doctor's suit and gets access to a new moveset...

The height/body type difference is why I'm doubting Impa as an echo, she's significantly taller. Unless they make an exception, or is it not even really a rule? Semi-clone is better for her anyway.

No, the new moves play entirely to why Dr Mario is considered a new character. If it were just stating changes then he would be an echo fighter

No, the move set is the whole difference why, new moves means not an echo.

He gets new moves because he didn't have new moves in melee outside pills vs fire. His moveset is mario's old one. Not hard to get

※攻撃力やふっとばし力、歩行・走行速度、ジャンプ力、重さなどの基礎パラメーターが、オリジナルファイターに対してほぼ同じのファイターのこと

* Basic parameters such as attack power and knockback strength, walking and running speed, jumping power, weight etc. are about the same as the original fighter

Dr Mario is different in all four of them. So is Young Link and Pichu

Ultimate has Snake and Bomberman. Nintendo/Sakurai are totally in bed with Konami at this point. Simon not being a thing is inconceivable to me.

I mean honestly, Bomberman is a more popular character than Simon and has more of a history with Nintendo (including one of the early third party titles for Switch that sold over a million). You'd think if anyone else from Konami would get in, it's him.

Then again if Simon's in we can have a Captain N reunion.

Castlevania is a bigger franchise than Bomberman.

I wouldn't really say that, Impa's character is really inconsistent throughout the games, there are few times when she was actually a warrior, last time she showed up she was just an old lady
Like all Zelda characters, she changes every game. She's still very active in most games... and she actually shows up again unlike the one-off characters.

Skyward Impa is pretty tall, but I think there's some wiggle room to scale her with Sheik's body type

In Breath of the Wild Impa was an old woman. In Twilight Princess she was an old woman.

It's either Ocarina of Time or Skyward Sword Impa....do they even have the rights to use Hyrule Warriors Impa?

I watched the Re-Rate the Character for Chrom and I'm starting to come around to him. I don't think he'd be particularly interesting, but I do think he's fairly likely.

That being said; could it be possible that they could pinch moves from Marth/Lucina, Roy, and/or Ike to make a sort of semi-clone, rather than an Echo?

I'd like Impa to be in with her skyward sword design. easily one of my favorite designs in all of zelda tbh, would love for it to be used again.
