McSally's Gillespie routine continues to alienate everyone.

She is getting dragged from all angles and I am LIVING.

Her main dilemma:
But immigration, not McSally's military service, remains the dominant issue in the Republican primary; its August arrival leaves little time for a general election pivot.
Whatever heinous shit she says to win the primary will still be fresh in voters' minds on election day, and Sinema will be able to clobber her with it.

If she returns to her previous "moderate" (she wasn't) stance, Chemtrail might manage an upset. But she can't go that much farther right because how can you be farther right than Chemtrail and Arpaio? Which means that she'll never be able to appease their electorate fully.

Just saw this. Jesus, talk about being unable to read the room. Also I love how easily people forget that Trump is also a sexual predator.

According to state Board of Elections records, Cuomo received nine donations totaling $64,000 from Trump between 2001 and 2009.

Cuomo, who previously was pressured to return more than $111,000 he accepted over the years from disgraced former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, said he has not considered returning the Trump dollars.

"No, not at all," he told reporters in Brooklyn after an unrelated event. "I'm going to be deeply critical of him and keep the contributions."

I never got the idea of returning money in these situations. Why should the "disgraced" person have the money? The money's in better hands now, right?

I mean, I get that argument but on the other hand, saying "oh, that monster that raped women? He gave me money to support me and I'm totally keeping it to win my reelection" is probably not a good look.

You can always give it to charity. It just shows people you're serious in your opposition, and will llimg to give up something real; that it's not just an act.

Apparently Cuomo disagrees.

Honestly, who cares? Campaign contributions aren't bribes, despite what people might think. There's a lot more legit stuff to hit him for that this just feels small from Nixon. Hit him with the corruption stuff, with the MTA stuff, with the IDC stuff, not this dime store bullshit.

If it's an older cycle that's not really a fair move. If it's current...lol Cuomo.
I think sewing that confusion is the point of the ad.

But it seems so easy to reframe it. "The joke is on him, because that money was spent fighting for women, protecting their rights, putting dangerous men like him behind bars," etc etc.

I actually got chance to tell someone in real life pining for the days of "reasonable Rockefeller Republicans" that "Honey, Rockefeller and the people like him would probably be Democrats today because the vast majority of people with that ideology already became Democrats."

Honestly if I were a politician I'd totally take money from people/corps and then do nothing for them and laugh in their face

If he drops out does the GOP get to run someone else?

I believe the governor would get the option to fill a temp replacement while calling a special election to let the voters decide on a proper replacement from candidates willing to run for the seat. Then of course it gets open for election in the next general election(Nov.)

May need clarification for accuracy I think.

I mean is it any coincidence the last Rockefeller to hold office in national politics (Sen. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia) is a Democrat?

Trump is more likely to listen to Schumer than Yertle.
So Garland then?

Honestly if I were a politician I'd totally take money from people/corps and then do nothing for them and laugh in their face
The thing is, I think I can say this, the two of us probably care more for results than process, but the people this works on likely care more for process than results. That said, if he took the money after Trump took office? Bruh

And I'm not talking like I like Cuomo or something either. If Nixon can perform well in a debate and show she can accomplish her goals I'd vote for her. I'd just like to know she can walk the walk before I go with the devil I don't know is all.

I'm willing to bet Trump is going to nominate whoever he wants regardless of what Mitch said. I think he knows damn well that he could put a ham sandwich in front of the Senate, and Republicans would still vote to confirm it.

I actually think crazy cult lady would have issues getting out of committee. She's in a cult. She has no experience. There's nothing positive about her versus literally any other conservative.

It'd be a nightmare for the GOP to confirm a justice, only for her to be bogged down in scandals for long enough to get the Democrat senate in to deny all of Trump's picks to replace her when she steps down in a year or two.

I saw the initial speech, Is it even more cathartic to finish watching the rest of it?

Have been listening to the whole thing in the background. Much of it is addressing the recent primary results, largely CA and NYC.

They do address some of the comments made by the Dean deep into the talk. Basically that they are constantly evaluating how 2016 operated and how to address the madness. Largely that in 2016 the constant rallies by Trump and his endless beating of the drum ensured they were trying to keep pace to cover it all. This meant some messaging on his side became more prolific as everyone chased him as scandals arose daily and the election gave credence to ensuring coverage.

Haber also stated that the goal to combat the criticism has been to slow down. Not to merely try to "keep up" with him any longer. She states how his rallies now lack the same level of coverage, some of which many outlets dont bother covering including the NYT. They joked that some rallies only Fox covered and the channel made it a point to mention on the chyron.

They didn't really address the emails nonsense much, but I havent finished listening yet. Not a great answer but they are -fully- aware of the blame and anger being leveled at them lately.

Not sure if a good response could really be given, beyond admitting fault and not rationalizing the power their institution wields. Especially when a vast majority of the populace isn't paying real attention and can't be trusted to do critical thinking on a base level to determine lies from fact. There was so much failure in 2016 from so many angles and our democracy and values were steamrolled for shit priorities. But thats just my thought.

I'll update if the last 15m or so add anything.
