having racial anxiety doesn't make one a racist or white supremacist. the solution is to address the underlining fear and come to a sincere and enduring resolution. granted trump preys on peoples' fears so he's not the one to solve the problem but calling all trump voters nazis addresses nothing but your own misguided frustration.
If you fear someone for the color of their skin and live according to that fear, there is no escaping the fact that you are racist. There is literally no fact-based, justifiable reason behind fear of people from a different race. I'm not about to give a pass to people who are "afraid of blacks". That's racism. Pure and simple. If they want it any different, they'll analyze where that fear comes from and if it is even born from fact rather than willful ignorance.

Hah, now I can see the advantage in calling it homophobia.
You're being obtuse if you think fear of differing skin-color isn't considered part of racism.

The guy was probably making a six figure salary as an aerospace engineer working at a top defense contractor. He was probably living a comfortable life. And he threw that all away because he could not keep his Nazi shit to himself. He'd be lucky to find a job earning him half as much. People talk, so it is possible he is blacklisted from the industry.

What would someone have to do to make you consider them a racist?

Same thing way too many people think: Unless someone is screaming slurs and burns crosses at night, they aren't racist. To be racist is to be overt and cartoonish rather than the subtle and insidious ways racism actually manifests daily. It's why people still try to peddle the idea that Trump isn't racist simply because he doesn't say slurs or openly support the KKK. I would have hoped more people would have woken up from that naive thinking these past few months but I guess too many people have bigoted family that they're not willing to call racist yet. Just "misunderstood" or "ignorant".

Not even that works sometimes as I learned during my childhood. Just kids (in their 20s) playing a prank.

"67 million people voted for Trump. Do you really think they're all racist?"

In November 2016, I would've hedged. "Nah, some are just 'Vote R no matter who they are' types."

2017 proved me to be more wrong than I've ever been. And I liked "12 Inches of Snow" back in the day, so I've been pretty damn wrong before.

Today? An unequivocal yes. There's always exceptions of course, but they're so few that they're statistically irrelevant.

Racism is learned. It's not necessarily taught, though. You pick it up through observation, through pop culture, through experience. So even if your parents were Good Christian Folk (tm) who taught you that Racism Is Bad (tm)... you still pick it up.

That 67m? They run the gamut from the above to shitheads who actively teach their kids to hate people who aren't white Christians.

This guy who got fired? He's not gonna be out of work long. Just has to find a place that doesn't show him the door when he says "Hail Hydra." It won't take long, especially under the current administration.

I legit don't know why some of the posters in here are on this site. They hate the people here, they hate the moderation, they hate the 'dogpile'. I mean the old site is still up and more "accepting" than ever. Just go there and own the libtards.

Yep. This. Trump winning has shown the world how racist USA really is. Those 67 million who voted for trump? They can fuck right off.

the point of confronting fear is to move beyond it. i don't see how just calling someone a racist solves anything. there are some true racists out there (klan, card carrying neo-nazis) but the person saying that there are 63 million nazis in the us because they voted for trump is not solving anything. why did they vote for trump? what do they fear that trump is exploiting? how do we address the racial anxiety that trump is exploiting so that people are seen as individuals instead of 'the other'. unfortunately the only one speaking to these people's anxiety is trump and he's hardening them in order to use them for his own purposes. i don't have all the answers but to hear people in this thread talk about it, its like you're with us or against us, and where have i heard that before?

Nah, fuck them. They made their bed, they can fucking lie in it. Hand-wringing about how we can "help" them isn't going to achieve a damn thing, because they fucking THRIVE on that shit. They can be utter heinous, and they get away with it because we're more worried about "helping" them than fighting against it. These fucks don't deserve help, they don't deserve sympathy, and they don't deserve to feel safe or welcome in society. Let them starve, they them suffer, and let them fear. They deserve nothing more.

Fuck them, and fuck them hard. And fuck you for being a milquetoast hand-wringing enabler.

at a certain point, my own self interests kick in before (again) trying to save those who have continually hurt me and everyone else by working against their own self interests. solely because they have proven to be so effective at it, and now we have to focus on fixing that before they end us all for good.

I gotta agree with the people saying "fuck them." I mean, to me it's easier to want to keep civility, easier to skip the arguments with family, just easier to stop giving a fuck, but that's because I don't have any skin in the game, which I imagine is also the case for a lot of people who want to stick up for some of these Trump voters. But at this point I feel we have to face facts.

There's a great deal of overlap between the "Blue lives matter" group, people that are anti sports protests, for the display of the Confederate Flag, for the display of Confederate Monuments even when they're depicting patently false historical events, support State's Rights to the point they think slavery should be allowed though they all make it a point to express how horrible they think it'd be if a State decided to legalize slavery, continue to support voter laws that target minorities and city dwellers disproportionately, support a Muslim ban on travel to the United States, want closed borders, are now on record supporting separating child refugees from family members for both blackmail purposes and as a signal AND those who support Donald Trump. I mean, if I were to Venn Diagram all those things it'd just be a fucking single circle. I really don't think we have the luxury of playing nice any longer now that they're outright dehumanizing people, doing things previously thought cruel and getting away with it. Now I know this current strain of white nationalism isn't outright Nazism, but, it's important to remember the Nazis didn't have a majority of the vote either. If my fellow white citizens are hell bent on pursuing this course I'd like them to know in advance that they have to choose, choose between further going down that path versus or continuing to enjoy a civil society, continue having certain friends and family in their lives, that we're not all just going to hang out casually together at Starbucks like nothing's wrong as they fuck over people any longer. Hell, maybe them seeing that it is a choice they have to make will do some good now rather than instilling in them the idea, well I hope it's just an idea, that they can kidnap kids and whisk them around the country to secret sites and whatever they plan to do next and those of us who dissent will be nice to them all the same. Maybe enough of them can choose civility?

What's awesome is that his name will always be associated with being a Nazi and white supremacist, FOREVER. So until the heat death of the universe or the total dismantling of the internet, his legacy will be that he's a piece of shit. Haha. Get fucked, dude.

Pretty much. People LOVE to act like the current state of things just magically appeared, that the same group of folks voting against their best interests weren't voting against their interest in the past (and much of it because of their irrational fear of black people), I'm so tired of the repeated extended sympathy they've been handed from 19xx to present day.

It's amazing how we're told to empathise over and over again at the expense of our own struggles and feelings, doubly so for Black folks. This country is always reinforcing this "hug those that don't tolerate you, that's how we move forward together!" mentality.

Personally, that's just how you maintain the status quo and this false sense of peace so that the majority's worldview and comfort aren't disrupted. And I give not a single fuck about the majority's feelings or comfort

How can there be 63m white supremacists when a percentage of those 63m are not white? Seems like extreme hyperbole to me.
You do realize there are minorities who exist that believe in whites actually being the "superior race"? That self hatred is a very real, observable phenomenon in practically every group where colorism runs rampant?

And even if you want to suppose those actors only make up a small number of voices, there is certainly a much bigger subset of minorities who, while they don't align with white supremacy, they will ally themselves with its proponents since its targeting groups of people they despise.

And of course, you have some who believe a mix of the two previous thought trains, while simultaneously holding hope they'll be excluded from the ethnic purge.

Minorities are not exempt from being on the side hoisting white supremacy, just like they aren't incapable of being insufferable bigots in their own right. As long as colorism exists across the world, white supremacy will attract an unintended audience.
