Don't bosses get more HP as you upgrade your nail? Is it ever advisable to NOT upgrade your nail before certain fights so they have less HP?
Only the Dream Warriors and the non-boss Grimmkin enemies are like this (and possibly the first Grimm fight? The wiki seems to contradict itself on this one).Don't bosses get more HP as you upgrade your nail? Is it ever advisable to NOT upgrade your nail before certain fights so they have less HP?
I'll be trying it later. It's pretty much the only thing I'm missing, besides finishing the stuff to get the True Ending and the Trial of the Fool. It's actually nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be, the route isn't as long as it seems. Just start at the Grey Mourner's house, place a dream gate there, then walk all the way to the grave (even if your flower breaks), clearing every enemy. As long as you don't rest at a bench, most of them won't respawn and so your next attempt will be a lot simpler.
Me too. Send help
Question about the endings:
I hear there are two endings, one "bad" and one "true" with the "true final boss", and completing the White Palace is what is required for the latter (correct me if I'm wrong).
My question is: suppose I want to see both endings, should I go clear that ending right now, and then reload my save, complete the White Palace, and then do the real ending? Basically, will completing the White Palace "lock" me into the "real ending" path with no way to see the bad one?
Also, I haven't reached it yet but I keep reading about it... Is this "Path of Pain" required to see the real ending?
Thanks.
Thanks! I'll go do that then.
Well, I still need to defeat the4 KingsWatchers, but last I tried was like, 2-3 masks, 2 nail upgrades, 1 spell upgrade and probably half a dozen (or more) charms ago. I got this? I got this.
I have it on pc. But the more people experience this the better. This game is the perfect portable game. Great in short bursts. It is also on PC too btw if you didn't' know. I can't imagine it requiring a beefy rig to play on.
If any of them are near the bottom, you can try pogo-ing them down into the spikes for an instant kill, but it's kinda risky. The aerial portion is definitely the hardest part, both times I did Trial of the Fool I started that wave with full health and was down to one mask by the time you have to fight single armored squits with a lowered ceiling. After barely making it past that part on the second attempt, the rest was a breeze in comparison, though I did panic a little against the boss and cut it kinda close. That said, the part when the 4 quad-directional fire spewer things spawn is ridiculous if you have bad luck. I sometimes feel like it would be the best to deliberately fall into the spikes and, after respawning, try to take out 1-2 with Abyss Shriek. Because if they don't cluster up and cover the area in fireballs there's little you can do. And those bastards take 4 regular hits even with the best nail + Fragile Strength.
I believe they say something about it right at the start, when you first discover charms, but I may be mistaken.

Yeah, I also actually tried it only after reading about it, but I seemed to remember something or other about it. Still, I hate receiving double damage, so I'm not using it.I only know about it because the tricks thread. I feel like most players would miss it.

Well, I think most people don't know about it, like the other thread shows.I learned about overcharmed from my controller suddenly bring unplugged and the button sticking. I thought I was a genius only to find out everyone knew about it already.
Powered through Deepnest last night. A few questions:
- Is the main objective of the area getting the
tram key?- How exactly are you supposed to get the mask shard that you can see when you first enter from Mantis village?
- I'm assuming the only way to get across to the
secret wall that leads you to Nosk is by utilizing double jump?
On an unrelated note, really loving Grubsong. For only one slot, I feel like it's a game changer.
I guess we'll see. I wonder if I'll manage to get to the Path of Pain on my own, or if I'll have to look where the entrance is.White Palace regular route isn't that bad. Make sure you equip Hiveblood for free healing.
Bought the game the day it came out but now jsut started playing.
I don't like it...
Granted I've never played a 2D metroidvania game like this, but I'm just overhwhelmed and hate the idea of wandering around. I bought a map but then when I moved into the next area it was gone and now I'm stuck in some mossy area and the layout is too complex and I'm stuck. Never know if I'm actually going the right way or just headed towards an area I don't have the ability for.
TIL I don't like Metroidvania.
- There will be another main objective once you get further in the game (after Resting Grounds). But the tram key helps a lot.
- You have to go around and re-enter that hallway from above.
- Not sure. You might be able to bounce off of something, but double jump is very close now that you have the tram pass.
The airborne section in the 3rd Trial somehow turns me into a severe cripple if my gameplay is anything to go by. Seriously, it's like I cannot possibly perform any of the movement mechanics properly. Instead of shadow dashing through the enemies to the other side I just... dash into the wall I'm already at, get hit, fall, panic wing-jump and dash into nothing and then also not pogo of the spikes at the bottom. It happens every time, lol.

Same for me at the beginning. It's slow but once you get your first ability you'll like it. If you don't have the ability you can't reach an area so you shouldn't be in so you'll not going to get too lost if that make sense.
You don't really have to "figure out" the map. You can buy a map in each area, and then you fill it out as you go (you need to buy the quill from the shop up top). You can also buy a compass that shows where you are on the map.I got that projectile ability thing to move into the next area. Then it got way too complex and I don't have the will to spend hours figuring out the map. I mean, I like exploring in games however it usually more in a 3D setting.

For now you'll have to backtrack, later on you'll unlock some form of fast travel.Yeah I bought it for the first area but I guess I am too naive and thought it would work for the rest of the game. Dont even know how to get back up to the shop since I'm in a new area and completely lost. Do I have to backtrack all the way back or is there some other way to get back up?

If you buy a map for an area from Iselda does Cornifer disappear? This happened to me in Deepnest.

You can only buy the map from Iselda if Cornifer is no longer in the area.
I don't remember the exact requirements for when he leaves though. Usually it's beating the area's main boss.
For the map, I guess you could always use maps you found online instead of the in-game one (at least until you get it for the area). In this kind of games, there's always a bit of backtracking, but it's generally not too bad in this game.

Yes, this. Once I equipped that, it took a little longer as I waited to heal, but it basically eliminated any worry of having to redo sections I already passed.
I only got one item from there, but it, uh, seemed incomplete. I assume there's more to find?
